Fishing trip with Captain Rodney is like spending a day on the water with a friend. His easy going Chokoloskee way and knowledge of the water and fishery make for an enjoyable day on the water. He winds thru the Everglades and puts you in a spot where, “there’s no bad cast”. He tries to adapt to each clients ability, hard cord no-bait or semi sightseeing/fishing.

My wife and I contracted Captain Rodney on a sunny January day to take us in to the "Watson Place", a campsite in the Everglades National Park which was once the homestead of my distant cousin, E.J. Watson. Mission accomplished, we then spent a half-day successfully fishing in small, beautiful waterways, admiring dolphins, photographing alligators, all to the accompaniment of Captain Rodney's good description of the area and its history. It was good to have a third generation local resident as a guide. We will return and hope to have Captain Rodney as our guide again.

My wife and I fished with Capt. Rodney three days in January of 2013. These three days were the highlight of our stay in Florida. Rodney's knowledge of the mangrove islands, channels, creeks, oyster beds, deep holes and all the other physical features of the area and the way that they interact with the ocean tides is phenominal. His equipment is top notch and well maintained. He works hard to give his clients a great experience at a very reasonable price. Most of all, Rodney is a great guy to spend a day with in a boat. My wife and I will be booking more trips with Capt. Rodney in the future.

Our family of four had an amazing day on the water! Captain Rodney was great with our two children ages 9 and 5. He taught them both how to cast in just minutes. By the end of the trip our son commented that fishing was better than playing video games. As I mom, I was thrilled to watch my children experience the joy of fishing. Captain Rodney is very knowledgeable, kind, fun to talk with, and patient.

We booked a fishing / nature trip and our Captain cancelled on us as we drive down to the Everglades. We tracked down Rodney who took us out the next day. He was a pleaser..... working hard to deliver an amazing trip.

Thanks Rodney for booking us last minute, for finding us gators, spoonbills, dolphins, turtles, snook, trout and more. You owe us a sawfish... next time.

I treated my adult son to a half day fishing trip with Captain Rodney. His patience with a couple of rookie Canadian fishermen made the trip a real joy. Rodney also worked hard as we fished the morning’s rising tide and successfully landed many sea trout. We were skunked on the redfish though until later in the morning when he finally found some under the mangroves and we then netted several. Rodney is kind, hard-working and knowledgeable. We will try to get down to see him again on our next trip.

If you want to see 1000's of birds of different species gathered in one place take this tour!!! Capt Rodney knows his craft very well. He's informative and fun. We had a blast! A beautiful sunset cruise in the Everglades, seeing the wildlife and learning the history of the area. Give this tour a try. We would do this again in a heartbeat!!!

My wife and I with our two sons (ages 6 and 10) spent this morning with Captain Rodney fishing and exploring the backwaters of Everglades National Park. We loved every minutes of the trip - Captain Rodney is a fountain of information. He was very patient with the kids and taught them how to hook the tackle and cast the fishing line - we caught a number of fish with him. He also took us around the birds roosting grounds, around mangroves, and to an island for some exploring! It was great fun. We also got lunch from him - really nice turkey sandwiches with chips and fruit - which made the trip hassle free! Highly recommend Captain Rodney and his backwater fishing morning tour.

Had a ball caught some fish. Great time, caught trout, red and snookie. Rodney was really good with us who had no idea about fishing.

Four friends started our Everglades adventure with a sunset cruise with Capt. Rodney. While we had a great time for the rest of our short get-away, nothing could top our time with the Captain. His pleasant demeanor and extensive knowledge of the area made for a wonderful two plus hours. We learned about the Everglades, saw so many species of birds that we lost count, watched the Dolphins play in the wake of the boat. All the time you saw his respect for the wildlife and the Everglades.
Not all of us were boat people but at no time did you feel uncomfortable on the small boat. He knew those waters like the back of his hand. We were lucky with the weather. The temperature was very warm but by the time we headed back at dusk over open water, it became quite cool. Be
sure to have at least a sweatshirt to put on. We forgot our binoculars but luckily Captain Rodney carries a pair.
We can't recommend this excursion highly enough. We think a fishing trip with Captain Rodney might be on our bucket list now.
