About
At Everglades Area Tours, we set ourselves apart from the competition by offering the most intimate and educational tours of Everglades National Park and the surrounding protected areas. All of our guides are formally trained Florida Master Naturalists, Environmental Educators, and Full-Time Outdoor Leaders. You won’t find any intrusive airboats here -- they’re not allowed in Everglades National Park due to the damage they inflict on the ecosystem. Instead, we offer more exclusive guided boat, kayak, and walking tours with the most experienced tour guides in the state. Our most popular eco-tour, the Boat Assisted Kayak ECO Tour, combines the best of a boat tour, a kayak tour and a walking tour into one four hour adventure! Come experience the wildly unpredictable and natural beauty of Everglades National Park with Everglades Area Tours, where adventure awaits at every turn.

The two guides, Captain Joyce and Carla, handled the larger than expected group of 17, rather than the group of 12 we expected, very well. They were knowledgeable and friendly. They tried to make sure everyone had a good time and learned about the wildlife, development of the area, history of the islands and impact of weather conditions on the area.

We took a private photography tour with Don, and really enjoyed our time. He scheduled an earlier than listed departure so we could get to a bird rookery in time for the sunrise. The light was beautiful a little after the sunrise, and I got some pelican shots that I think will come out nicely. Then we toured several of the islands (Rabbit Key, Palisades Key, Sandfly Island) and got to learn more about the history and natural history of the area while continuing to shoot photos. He's a very knowledgeable guide who took his time to really show us so much about the area. Great tour.

We loved this trip - family fun 3.5 hour private boat with a local guide. Perfect mix of dolphins/manatees/wildlife for the first part, then shelling on Kice island, and the best part was fishing in the 10,000 island national preserve for the last 1/3 of the trip. Our kids caught a small hammerhead shark, catfish and mullet snapper. Amazing morning and I would do it again in a heartbeat. Thank you!

Overall the people who owned/worked there were very nice and the experience was decent. Weather was windy but that’s not anybody’s fault. Kayaks were good size with plenty of room and we’re well taken care of. We wanted to do the guided fishing tours but they were booked, so we just rented kayaks and rods. Rods were pretty cheap with missing guides and definitely bring your own rods/reels and tackle if fishing is your priority. They have a bait store next door a few business down. They shut down at 4:30 which i didn’t know, you can go as early as 8 am amd i would gotten there earlier if i knew they were closing that early. But good business and very nice but i think they can improve the experience. But very affordable and i would recommend that you do the guided tours over just renting the kayak if available!

Sorry for missing eyes. We have a dozen FREE loaner rods. I think that the gal that helped you simply grab the wrong ones. Had you noticed, she would given you another. On the phone, we did discuss getting there early because of the fishing and tides. We set your appointment for 10:00. You arrived at 1:00. We normally require renters to be in by 4:00 as we need to moblize search and rescue before dark. We extended it 30 minutes because of your late arrival. I would love your input on how to improve the rental experience.

We did the private photography and birding boat tour. It was very expensive and we felt it was not worth the money. The guide was nice but did not give photography tips or much information that would make the price worth it. We wish we had chosen a much less expensive activity. We saw much more wildlife on the Shark Valley walk and the Anhinga Trail for free.

Yes, It was tough. Other than the dolphins, there was not much to see. It was peak high tide and most all the wading birds were inside the islands resting. Wading birds need shallow water to feed. The bald eagles were off their nest and too far back to shoot, the dolphins did not cooperate and the rosette spoonbills that you wanted to hunt for were not to be found. Had we spoke before you booked the tour, I would have strongly encourage you to book at high tide.

Our family of five went on the private fishing, shelling, dolphin tour and it was worth every penny. We caught fish, we saw dolphins and our tour guide even helped us look for shells and was very knowledgeable and friendly. We all had a blast and our 3 children all agreed that it was the highlight of their trip. Would definitely do it again!!

Our guide, Daniel, was awesome - so knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the area from the Native American history to the eco-system, to bird watching to shelling. We enjoyed a comfortable and very safe ride in his boat following dolphins and birds through the mangroves. Wonderful stop on a beach covered in shells and even artifacts from the Native Americans in the area. He explained what we were seeing and how it came to rest in the spot where we saw it. Only 5 guests onboard made for a very personal experience. We had my 82 year old dad with us and he was easily able to board the boat each time. Be bring to bring your sunscreen, water and camera - really lovely tour! Enjoy!

Don is the best tour guide we ever met. Expert, flexible, friendly, fun. Worth repeating! We did this same tour 10 years ago; it was excellent then, and it's better now. Don knows where to observe exotic wildlife up close, where to find ancient inhabitants' artifacts, and more. He can look down at your feet on the beach and pluck the most exquisite thing you would not have noticed, and describe its lifecycle in vivid detail. He combines kayaking, boating, nature and education, with a friendly, courteous, generous manner. There's more to tell, including some secrets, but I won't spoil it here.

We booked a private sunrise boat tour, specifically for photography. We had previously booked a private sunset tour, again for photography. Captain Dan was great and we reviewed that trip separately. For the morning, we had Captain Charles who was also terrific, he took us to some really nice locations for photos. We saw a wide variety of birds and Captain Charles was great at identifying them. Weather was fantastic and we had a great time. We will be doing this again next week

We rented sea kayaks and had a wonderful time paddling in the Everglades. Everyone at Everglades Area Tours was nice and super helpful and very easy to reach both by phone and internet. The sea kayaks had rudders and all equipment was fully operational.
