Our group of 6 visited this site yesterday and took advantage the private guided tour that was offered. Peg, our docent, was superb in her knowledge of the history of the area and in her ability to make that information come alive. Don't miss this wonderful little gem and do try to book the private tour. We are so pleased that we did so. Thanks to all of the ladies that staffed the house yesterday, you were terrific!

What an interesting Estero hidden gem. Both a cottage and one room schoolhouse from the early 1900's. Wonderful exhibits. Great for children as well as adults. Open from 1:00 to 4:00 on Saturdays. Attended the reading of the Declaration of Independence with local historian dressed in period costume.

Was about a mile from Embassy Suites and I75 on/off ramps. Historical buildings along with great leisure walking/bike trail and climbing/outdoor activities for kids. Has three outdoor sand volleyball courts that FGCU used for tournament play which was reason for my visit. Clean and has bathrooms and outdoor pavillion. Believe they was a separate park for dogs.

This site opened in 2009 when these two structures were moved to Estero Community Park. When open, it is staffed by descendents or spouses of the in tial Europe settlers in the late 19th c. And these eight full women willing share stories of these homesteaders using period photos andd furnishing and decorative arts as meaningful props . You can even purchase homemade"meat sauce" or mango chutney as well as mango preserves for owing settler recipes. What a treasure. The Estero historical so city lovingly minds a sliver of the past admit rapid local development thank you volunteers.

I loved visiting the one room school house and seeing the old desks and books and report cards and such. It was fun learning more of Estero’s history from the friendly volunteers.

The history of Estero can be discovered here through documents or speaking with the docents. They need help digitizing their records to make them searchable.
