Capt Stu set us up with a speedy little boat for the week while we stayed over on Little Gasparilla Island- it was one of the best decisions we made on the trip! Having our own boat for fishing and island hopping was key as was Stu's help getting us orientated and navigated through the local waters. Thanks Capt Stu!

This is my 4th time going out with captain Stu and we have seen different things each time. We were lucky to get him since he had recent surgery, but he decided to take us out and the results were fabulous. We saw a lot of birds and some dolphins. He shared a lot of information about the wildlife, multi million dollar homes, and resident Hollywood stars :) The area the cruise goes on is diverse and beautiful. An old railroad track over the water provides for neat photos and that is where alot of the wild life chooses to hang out. We went on a search for manatees, but they were most likely still out in the gulf at that time instead of the channels. We were able to get off at secluded beaches that are not accessible by car or foot. We watched the sunset at the mouth of the gulf and it was beautiful. He was on time picking us up and we got our full time plus some out in the boat. He had a fantastic Bluetooth speaker system and mobile WiFi. We were able to bring coolers and snacks on board as well as decide what we wanted to see. Captain Stu and his wife are both great people and I always have a great time with Gulf island l Tours. I would recommend them to anyone and I will continue to take my friends out with them. Be sure to check out their other boat/tour/charter options. I have also been in the reel keel Yahtzee’s before and felt like a VIP. They are in the process of making a double decker pontoon boat into a mobile tiki bar. Can’t wait to check that out!

Rented a boat from Captain Stu at Gulf Island Tours, unfortunately didn't have the pleasure of meeting Captain Stu, but Dash his assistant took great care of us. Had some early on miscommunication, but Dash was able to get us in a boat and underway easily and quickly. Boat ran good with no issues. Hats off to Dash and the time he puts into getting his quest acclimated to the area prior to allowing them take off with a boat. If your in the area, reach out to them as they should have a boat for any of the area needs.

My wife and I just returned from our 10-year anniversary celebration vacation at Little Gasparilla Island. It is clear from our experience that anyone who plans to visit the barrier islands (which don’t provide car access) are missing the full experience if they don’t rent their own boat from Captain Stu! Forget about the water taxi, Stu will give you the right boat with the right advice for a cheap price to be your own captain and have the flexibility of cruising the harbors on your schedule. Many people who visit the area from far away likely have limited boating experience as we did. We were very excited about the idea of using a power boat as our vehicle of transportation and for fun but were also apprehensive about our limited knowledge of boating and navigation. This is where Captain Stu came in to the picture. Captain Stu made us feel comfortable at every step of the process and treated us as his client during our stay so that we could call him any time we had questions about the boat or itinerary. He was patient and friendly, never making us feel foolish for novice boating mistakes. He walked us through navigating, docking, anchoring, etc. so we felt like pros and were able to take long trips all the way up the intercoastal waterway and even out to the Gulf. If you are not renting your own boat to chase the dolphins in the Gulf you are missing an opportunity of a lifetime. Stu knew exactly what boat to prepare for us at the Marina. He has stable, powerful, and economical rentals for everyone, particularly for beginners. Other renters won’t deal with beginners and give you that much latitude, but Stu gives you the experience you are lacking from the get-go, so you can take the boat anywhere that is safe. We rented his 18-foot Carolina Skiff, which had a powerful 115 HP engine and fell in love with it. Given that Captain Stu is “old school,” he works out flexible logistics and rates that tailor fit your vacation. It’s often hard to fit the right rental for the right price based on where you are staying, what time of day you are flying in, and where you need to pick up and drop off the boat. Stu will take care of all that for you. As an extra gesture, he gave us the reduced weekly rate even though we only stayed half the week! If you want to explore Florida’s coast with top quality boats at the cheapest rate with a kind and passionate captain willing to teach you everything, Gulf Island Tours is enough of a reason to come to southwest Florida.

Captain Stu did not disappoint! We had a lovely afternoon on the water and he knew exactly where to take us to see dolphins and shorebirds nesting including the spoonbill roseate.
