We spent the late afternoon until sunset watching the area locals do a drum performance and sunset festival. It was amazing and crowd participation is welcome. There were people dancing, hula hooping, drumming and all out celebrating. My husband participated in the Indian ritual of the sage smoke blessing. It was the highlight of his trip. I highly recommend going to this celebration. The beach is beautiful and the sunset was breathtaking.

This beach can be crowed during high season but has great sunsets. The beach was replenished lately and they have plenty of sand and area to stretch out. The further you go north on the beach the less crowed. I have also fished from this beach after walking north away from the people. Not many sharks teeth or shells but a nice beach.

We started our day in Venice, and then headed South as we wanted some shark's teeth. We paid $1.50 for two hours of parking from 1:38pm-3:36pm , and got about 70 shark's teeth. On average we got one tooth from each double handful of shells we scooped. The sand drops off at the surfline, and the waves were good sized. The weather was perfect and we enjoyed full sunshine and the breeze.

This is normally a nice beach, nearby restaurants with good parking. July and now August brings Red Tide: dead fish all over beach and in water and stinks like a sewer, Signs posted warning folks to stay away if they have any respiratory problems. You will be coughing if you go to this beach. Find another beach, don't totally trust beach reports and for sure disregard restaurant observations especially those that are on the beach. If you can or are planning a trip to Florida, consider the East coast where there is no red tide, excellent beaches and clearer water. The Gulf Coast and Red Tide make for a poor vacation. Florida needs to wake and resolve this issue that is aided by the chemicals and waste poured into the Gulf.

Normally a very nice beach and surrounding area but this year, as in the past, it has turned into a stink on the beach, eye irritations and coughing and dead fish on the sand. This is happening in Aug 2021, as bad as the past red tide problem a few years ago and the State seems to do little about it. Some of this is normal and will not affect your health or smell but the other issues as with dumpling sewage in the Gulf and fertilizers from agriculture feed the red tide and end up making beaches, restaurants and the nearby areas unusable. Your vacation will be ruined. In fact this has been going on July and August with it peaking in August. Go some place else and don't subject yourself or your family and friends to the uncertainty and health problems with this mess

I went with friends to this beach on a Saturday afternoon and stayed until sunset, it was very clean and had a nice boardwalk leading to restrooms. There was plenty of free parking close by and many restaurants and bars right across the street to take a break from the beach. There were also cute cottages right on the beach renting for $140 a night. It would be a great place to stay because you could enjoy the beach and then take a break and get out of the sun.

Got to the parking lot at 8:30am plenty of spaces (filled to capacity later). Paid $5 for 7 hours at the kiosk- I suggest using cash at the parking ticket machines. The restrooms are in the middle of the parking/ along the beach. Rented two lounges and an umbrella for $20. The sand was coarse but soft enough under your bare feet. The water was clear and took on a lovely blue-green color as the day went on. The water was cool but I went swimming as did many others. Refreshing in the hot Florida sun. By noon it was crowded but not packed. Restaurants across the street. All in all a good beach experience.

The daily beach yoga, 8:30 to 9:30am is excellent. Parking here costs money (reasonable) so bring cash or a credit card. You can walk to a few area restaurants from the parking area. A concession person sets up and rents out chairs and beach umbrellas on the south end of the beach for a reasonable price. Showers (cold water) and bathrooms on site. Clean area, family friendly beach. It gets crowded in season on lovely days..

It was the worst visit when two ladies set close to few family and start smoking .
We did ask nicely if they can find better place away from the group of family they refused and been agressive about it .
For last 10 years every July we spent vacation at Englewood. For me it’s the last time to come back to this area .

This public beach is very especially for families and handicap. We were able to get a beach wheelchair at no charge for our mother and rented chairs and umbrella down near the water for $20 for the day. Very worth it! It was very busy the day we went and parking was a nightmare (that’s my reason for 4 stars) but I would guess during non holidays that won’t be an issue. We found lots of shark teeth and shells and the water was great!
