Yesterday we found this marvelous little winery in Englwood. The proprietor, John, immediately welcomed us in with a warm manner found in Italian homes. As we settled down for the tasting we were delighted to discover uniquely blended wine of John ‘s recipes. As the conversations flowed we uncovered my husband and brother-in-law, the Ruggieri’s were born nearby John’s place of birth. This lead for dynamic and humorous give and take. It wasn’t long before my traveling bear joined in. He’s been all over the world and John’s wine is one of the best. Don’t forget the balsamic vinegar and olive oil... they are stupendous.
We will be back again.

Got off the plane to learn of the MLB suspended games. Found this gem with my daughter (who is 21)! John gave us such an education and was just wonderful to talk to about wine and Italy. Price just right. Conversation wonderful. And delicious wine too! We bought a bottle too. You won’t regret the visit!

This is the 4th time we have been to Catania winery. John the owner is just delightful. He makes the tasting experience a fun event. We have bought wines, olive oil and balsamic vinegars. It is cash or check only but don't let that stop you. Don't pass up this place!

A rare rainy day in FL so decided to seek out this winery. What a treat... good wine & olive oil tasting and learned so much about wines and oils. Left with bottles of red, white and olive oil AND plenty of good memories! We'll go back again!

We had a very nice visit yesterday with John at the Catania Winery. John is knowledgeable about all facets of wine making. We sampled wine and had great conversation. It was an event and a nice way to spend a rainy afternoon. John also told us of his classes which we will sign up for when we move here full time. Tonite we are enjoying a spectacular bottle of wine over dinner.

Stopped in one afternoon and found a treasure! John is a masterful story teller and we relaxed learning about olive oil and wine. John is a wonderful host, to our surprise we actually tasted the differences in olive oils and enjoyed the experience! The wine was equally as interesting. Do not be in a hurry, slow down and appreciate a crafter at his finest.

I visited the winery for the second time this Thursday. I brought in new friends to share it with and my experience was as great as the first time. We sampled sauvignon blanc, cabernet sauvignon, and one other red. John is extremely passionate about what he does, very knowledgeable, and takes time to sit down and talk with you and make sure that you have a wonderful time. If you are in or near Englewood this experience will definitely brighten your day and is not something you want to miss out on.

In planning for last week's vacation in lovely Englewood, Hubby & I learned on TripAdvisor of wine tasting opportunities at Catania's Winery. Having attended tastings at wineries before, we knew that the interaction with the wine presenter is such a big part of the experience. In speaking with the owner, John Catania, we quickly realized we were in for a quality, enjoyable time! John presented his Sauvignon Blanc & two Cabernet's with easy-to-understand explanations of what to expect from each. We also tasted the olive oils, which John gave background about as well. It was readily apparent the John knows his stuff; he told us about being a Master Vintner, and a little bit of his history in the winemaking arena, and about how he came to create this comfortable winery in Englewood. John is a gracious host, and gave us many ideas for dining & pasttimes in the area. We bought several wines and an olive oil for a gift for our house host. A very nice experience - should not be missed!

We were curious to see a winerie in Englewood, SW Florida so we popped in for a visit and are so pleased we did. Mr Catania the owner is very knowledgable and a great story teller and we learned a lot whilst enjoying tasting his wines. He also has excellent olive oil and we are looking forward to tasting his balsamic vinegar and biscotti too.
You don't expect to find wines being made in this setting (grapes are imported from California) and it was a real treat to pay a visit and be entertained. Looking forward to returning and next time tasting Mrs Catania's baking. Just a lovely way to spend an afternoon. Highly recommend.

During a beach weekend in Englewood, we put Castina's Winery on the list of places to see. The location is convenient (don't let the industrial building deter you). Once you open the door to the winery, the first thing you see are so many different gadgets and gifts for wine lovers available for sale. Then John, the owner, greets you at the door and invites you in to share some wine and some knowledge. The tasting room had such quaint decor with the wine vats behind me with the lovely aroma of wine in the air. John shared so much knowledge that was very useful and actual things that can be used to help pick out wines as well as how to ensure quality wines in restaurants. After John helped identify what type of wine is pleasant to my palate, we then moved on to the olive oils. I never knew that olive oil could ever have such a fantastic flavor! Like a lot of businesses these days, he doesn't accept credit cards but John accepts personal checks without hesistation, and cash, of course. Oh, and by the way, John makes his own sausage too. We also took a few pounds of that as well. Catania's Winery is must do in Englewood!

We have been at Catania's Winery several times over the last 5 years. Always enjoyed the wine tasting and conversations with John. We have tried this year to return. The site says temporarily closed. Any further information when/if Catanias will reopen? Thank you!

Hi
I am looking for things to do on my anniversary coming up The first weekend in August And I’m considering this winery. May I have a more updated answers to two of the questions that are already on here back in 2015.
First question is, when are you open to the public?
Second question, when do you have wine tastings, what is the cost and what is included?

$12 get you a full wine and balsamic tasting and a small souvenir wine glass. If you are there alone you will have the full attention of the owner, if it’s busy it will be a lot more rushed.

Can we buy wine in bulk at a discount?
