I've done a lot of fishing charters all over and this was definitely one of the best ones. The day started off pretty rainy but they even had some rain jackets for us to wear. We started off catching bait and had some trouble with the grass but still got a few blue runners and spanish mackerels. We then moved further out and got some herring. Captain Kyle still wasn't happy with how much bait we had and made one more stop even further out and we caught some grunt. It was only my dad and I fishing so even captain Kyle came down to help us try and get as much grunt as quickly as possible so we could get out to start fishing for the big ones.
Once we started fishing we had great action. We were primarily going after amberjacks and had hooked a few, but they broke off on reefs or sharks got them. We had landed a few almacos and several non keepers, like small amberjacks and red snappers. Captain Kyle was great and kept moving to try and get us to a spot with big amberjacks and no sharks. Towards the end of the day (luckily the recommended doing the 8 hour trip for amberjack) we ended up getting our two amberjack limit using the grunt that Captain Kyle wanted to make an extra stop for. It's very easy for a Captain to stay at a spot when there are fish that are biting, but I really appreciated Kyle constantly moving spots to finally find the right one with big amberjacks and no sharks.
Danny was also great. I don't think there was a second where he wasn't working. He was constantly tying new lines, helping us bait up, and trying every possible technique to land fish. When we hooked up to our first keeper amberjack he was yelling at me to get it up out of the reef. I loved the encouragement and his excitement, but he felt so bad after he continuously apologized. With the second amberjack he had me cussing and yelling too. I love fishing and getting to learn as much as possible. Danny was very patient with my many questions, and he has some great and entertaining fishing stories.
We ended up with two amberjack (limit for two people), 4 almaco jack, and a gag grouper. We caught plenty of other fish we couldn't keep as well, there was almost constant action. Danny and Captain Kyle did a great job filleting the fish and gave us some advice on preparing the fish. We had some sashimi out of the amberjack and the gag grouper. The gag grouper meat was super white and almost too light for sashimi for me, but the amberjack was incredible. We also made some fresh ceviche out of some of the almaco jack which was incredible as well.
I've been on a couple charters in Destin and walked the docks several times to see what different boats are bringing in (that's how we found special K). Many of the other boats can put you on great numbers lane snapper and other fish, but Special K seems to consistently bring in the top fish. We'll definitely be going with them again.

I recently took a charter trip with a group of 6 people & can not say enough great things about Special K charters. Captain Kyle is a very knowledgeable captain & put us right on the fish we were after, if nobody was home we moved to the next spot as not to waste any time while we were out. He was incredibly friendly & answered any questions we had! His mate Danny was amazing as well! We had people ranging from frequent fishers to some who hadn’t fished in years. Danny took extra time to make sure you were comfortable with what you were doing & ensured everybody was bringing up fish. All in all we had a fantastic trip! We left with 2 coolers full of fish & amazing memories to look back on. I would definitely recommend Special K to anyone visiting the Destin area & looking to do some fishing. I will definitely be going out with them again!

We went on a fishing charter in March with these guys. I’ll start with how great they treated us through the process! They were by far the nicest guys we have dealt with! Danny was our guide and was great. He patiently showed us the process, and then let us fish. He was Johnny on the spot with keeping bait on the hooks. They put us on fish immediately and honestly wore me out catching trigger fish. Look at the pic of our largest, I wear a men’s 15 shoe. We caught a lot of red snapper and vermillion snapper as well. (Had to release the reds, not in season yet.). We took the fish to a local restaurant. They cooked them for us, and commented on the amount and quality of fish. We will be back!

There aren’t words to describe how much we enjoy our charter trips with Captain Kyle and Danny. If you’re looking for an epic adventure hosted by an extremely knowledgeable and kind crew, this is it. Hands down. Repeat customers, this time we brought our small kids (4+9) and felt comfortable and safe the entire time. Do yourself a favor and look NOWHERE else. Just book it. You will not regret your day on the water and the delicious fish dinner later!

Went out on 10-7-20. Captain Kyle got us on fish right away- within 15 min. We were pulling up tuna for dinner. After the tuna, got on the bottom and hauled in a freezer full of mingo, porgie, trigger, and grouper.Danny the mate is incredible also, an amazingly hard worker with incredible knowledge. The boat is great also, comfortable and immaculate. Satellite radio and TV. Truly the best fishing experience you could ever ask for.

Today we fished with Captain Kyle and his mate Danny. This was an amazing morning - we caught our quota of Snapper along with Wahoo, a shark, and other species.
These guys are extremely knowledgeable and fun to be on the water with. I highly recommend Special K!

Fished with the Special K second time the harbor walk charters placed me in the boat. Capt Kyle and Mate Danny did a great job putting us on the fish. I appreciate them securing bait ahead of time since we were able to spend leas time chasing bait. Red Snapper limit plenty of Mingos and surprise bunch of Lane Snappers. Top notch operation see you guys next year!

Had a great time fishing with Kyle and Danny. They are very friendly and know what they are doing. This is the crew to go with if you want to enjoy some fishing while in Destin. They are very accommodating. If we weren't getting any bites at a spot, Kyle would move us to another one. Just let them know what you would like to fish for and they will do everything they can to get you on them. The only reasons we didn't catch more fish is because of sharks and us getting worn out trying to pull in fish. (blame the sharks not Kyle and Danny. They would control the sharks if they could). Will definitely be back to fish with these guys again. Thank you both for a great fishing trip.

I have been on probably 30-40 charter fishing trips in Destin. I did not start out with Andy on Special K but can tell you that he is the best....no arguing. The thing that you have to understand is you have to spend more than 4 hours on a trip to have a experience of a lifetime. Andy and his crew are the most fun and hardest working and will show you a trip you will not regret taking. I have been yelled at by other captains (several) and I don't understand that if I'm the paying customer why do I have be yelled at. This will not happen on Andy's boat and they know what to do show you what a fishing trip in the Gulf of Mexico should be like.

Kyle and Danny were awesome. Caught lots of fish and had lots of laughs. I would recommend the Special K to anyone looking for a great day out on the water.
