Had a wonderful time on the Boardwalk. Not summertime, so quite a bit wasn't open, but then, you weren't fighting the crowds, so it was quite pleasant. Very dog friendly, so had no problems finding restaurants and bars for lunch, dinner and drinks.

We arranged for a dolphin cruise out of Destin Harbor but there were plenty of other boats to hire for fishing and pleasure. The Harbor also has restaurants and other activities.

Destin Harbor has come a long way from the old "Luckiest Fishing Village" of the 60s. It is large, with a very large tourist fishing and sight seeing fleet. It is a fun harbor to walk along it's boardwalk with the many boats and eateries.

Driving over the bridge from Ft. Walton Beach to Destin is a breathtaking experience. The harbor is beautiful and the sea of boats, yachts, and fun loving sea dooers playing in the bay makes you remember why you hit this coastline. No matter how many...More

Went there today for Seafood Festival. Lots of vendors, and we enjoyed looking at Arts, crafts, food, boats, etc. we love this fishing area, but it is crowded and hot during today's festival.

The closest major airport would be VPS. Valparaiso-Fort Walton Beach. Destin has a private airport right now.

boat rental docking for lunch? (1 Replies)
Hi everyone, We're currently down in FWB, and thinking about renting a pontoon boat this Saturday. Is it possible to dock at one of the restaurants on Destin harbor, and get off your boat to walk around and have lunch? If so, is there usually a charge to do this - or simply first come first served at available docking spots? Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I'm not sure what the correct thing is, but last May we docked & got off to use a bathroom.... No one said anything. I'm sure if you docked at Dewey's, over on the Bay side, you'd be fine to eat lunch there. A very popular lunch spot for GREAT fresh seafood, too!

East Pass Bridge (2 Replies)
I saw that East Pass is being closed every night- does that mean the bridge? We will be driving to Destin this coming Monday and expect to get there around midnight. If we can't use the bridge, what is another recommended way to get there? We are staying at the Inn on Destin Harbor. The oil makes me sad but we will find other things to do (we have a couples massage scheduled :) ). My only concern is if it smells really strong when we are there... I am very early in a pregnancy. No one...More
