We took the sunset cruise on the Daniel Webster schooner, booking through the AJ's Water Adventures' phone number. We were in Florida for a week, and this cruise was the best thing we did. I've never been on a sailboat, and it was one of the most relaxing boat rides ever - and I'm terrified of deep water, but I felt safe. Why did I wait so long to do this? The Captain and crew were friendly, informative, and fun. They were great at pointing out the dolphins jumping in the water, and the Captain would point the schooner so that we were able to get beautiful sunset views and pictures. Very family friendly, price was worth it, and we tipped the Captain and crew. Don't forget to take a jacket - it's very windy, of course, and we underestimated the temperatures once the sun dropped, even though the temps were in the mid 70's that day. They provide two cups of wine, beer, or soda, and also water. You cannot bring drinks onboard. There is a restroom on board, but you have to go down a few stairs to reach it, so those who have trouble with stairs and balance need to be aware of this. It is a 2-hour cruise. We loved it.

This whole experience was amazing! My boyfriend and I wanted to see some dolphins before we headed back home and the crew made sure that we did, all while keeping us entertained during the wait! We booked the sunset cruise from 6 to 8. We left the dock a couple minutes late but that was only because the captain wouldn’t leave without making sure everyone that got a ticket was able to get on. In turn the trip was extended past the scheduled end time so we were ensured a full trip. Our captain, Nick, was very informative and entertaining. He played a great soundtrack and encouraged everyone to let loose, dance, and have a good time, all while keeping everyone in the know about proper safety precautions. His deck hand, Goose, was a fun presence to have on the boat. He danced around with people and made sure everyone got their 2 free alcoholic beverages and any other drinks they needed. Nick and Goose even came around and took pictures for families and couples on the boat and made sure that everyone got the most memorable shot. They were very attentive to the passengers needs and made sure that everyone was taken care of. This cruise was one of the best things we did in Destin, well worth the $40 a person, plus you get a 10% off coupon for AJ’s restaurant and gift shop! So if you’re looking for a dolphin cruise to hop on, this is the one! It was an experience we will never forget!

Went on a daytime dolphin boat trip last week, with my husband and two children. We all absolutely loved it, started with a slow trip looking round the harbour, then out into the gulf where we saw loads of dolphins. The crew were brilliant, they played fab tunes, and just a great trip that we would all highly recommend.

This was awful. My teenage kids and I thought we were getting a lovely boating cruise around the harbor and Gulf to see dolphins and the sunset, but what we got was an obnoxious party boat and club scene. I'm not sure anyone on this boat had a good time but a handful of very drunk people.

The music was INSANELY LOUD! Like who wants to boat around looking at a sunset with music blaring so loudly you can't think? I asked three different times to please turn it down a bit and was ignored...rudely.

Oh and half the tour was just driving the harbor to different restaurants (obviously paid to be advertised) and the captain honking the horn while people screamed at patrons in these restaurants - gross.

Then the captain let the children drive, which is sweet (and obviously for pics but it's fine) then each kid got to lay on the horn, so that was another 20 minutes of just horns blaring.

This was miserable. Literally go with any other company.

The dolphin cruise was amazing! We took the afternoon trip and had so much fun that we got off the boat and went right over and booked the sunset cruise leaving an hour later! Cody and Addison did a fantastic job on both of our trips. They make it so much fun, and very informative too! The music was terrific, great drinks, and the customer service was top-notch! Oh, and we saw so many dolphins too! Seeing the dolphins so close to the boat was super cool. We loved when they speed up the boat heading out to the Gulf, and the music is blasting, everyone's dancing and singing. The sunset was absolutely stunning, and Cody and Addison come around and take everyone's pictures with the sun setting behind you. It was the highlight of our 2-week trip to the Emerald Coast!

We enjoyed the sunset and dolphin cruise with Nick (Captain) and Addison (First Mate). Although we didn't see that many dolphins and partly cloudy sunset, we all had a good time. Recommend seating in the back (so get in back of line) and bring crackers or bread to feed the pelicans and sea gulls. If you sit on the outside then you will get some spray from the boat.

We took an evening sunset sail on the Daniel Webster June 1, 2021. The boat was clean, crew was friendly and informative. We had a pleasant sailing experience. The boat was comfortable, we had 28 passengers and they limit to 37. Sitting on the cabin roofs was more comfortable than I thought it might be. We had 5 in our party aged 15-78, all were content.

We saw a few dolphins, but mostly just enjoyed the gentle rolling currents and different views as we left Destin Harbor under power then hoisted the sails for combination sail and power out past the jetty and into the Gulf (for only a few hundred yards). There were a lot of other types of boats meandering around at the gulf entrance jockeying for position, so it's not some peaceful sea faring adventure. The trip route changes depending on currents and in our case we were not able to sail along the coast but just meandered around and then back under the bridge to sail around near Crab Island for a slightly overcast sunset.

The crew, Taylor, Mitch, and Bailey were friendly, engaging and full of knowledge of the area. I even got to help Bailey hoist the sails (although I probably slowed her down). Beer was Budweiser, wine was Mondavi and they were generous and attentive with both. This crew works a hard schedule; 4 trips per day, 7 days a week, day in and day out, March through October. The only day off they get is when there is weather preventing them from going out.

The only reason I took one star away from my review is the music selection. They had an iPhone with 9,000 songs running a selected playlist of 1,200 songs. The list was quite eclectic with Michael Jackson, rock, Shania Twain and some avant garde selections. I have eclectic taste too, but for a sunset cruise I expect something to set the mood. I figured we were hearing party music to get us pumped up and they'd change the style up as we watched the sun go down. I even hinted and asked if they had any Jimmy Buffet or Bob Marley and was told "Yes, we do!", but the same random playlist played on. At one point, Christopher Cross' "Sailing" came on and I thought there was hope but then Tag Team came on and "Whoop, There It Is!"

It's a persnickety "complaint", I know, but it's an easy fix and would have made a difference to our whole trip...

We were a group of 60+ year old women who meets once a year on a "girls' trip." We paid for the 3:30 dolphin only cruise and left the dock with high hopes, but a big, black storm cloud moved in, and we had to return to the dock. We were told that we could re-book or get a refund. We wanted to book the snorkel and dolphin the next day. We were told that we could take the 9 AM trip, and they did NOT charge us the difference in price. We arrived the next morning and had an absolute blast! The snorkeling location didn't have much to look at, but the swim was nice. When we went looking for dolphins, we saw quite a few: a couple here, one over there. The captain kept moving around until we found some, and then hung out until they left. The music was upbeat and seemed to have a little for everyone, the beer and wine was limited to 2 glasses per person, and the crew was excellent. Our crew was Daniel, Blake, and Cody, They were AWESOME! Happy, personable, and they really tried to make the trip fun. They succeeded! Thanks, guys.

We took the Daniel Webster sunset cruise and it was amazing!!! The boat is so cool and it was so interesting watching them put the sails up and use them to maneuver the boat out of the harbor. It was pretty windy before we boarded but once on the boat we felt very safe and could hardly feel the waves. The crew is very knowledgeable and so awesome. You can truly tell they love their jobs and love to meet people and tell them about the area. We definitely recommend this boat tour to everyone and would love to return someday to do it again.
