Stetson Mansion is a spectacular Victorian mansion built for famed hat...

Stetson Mansion is a spectacular Victorian mansion built for famed hat maker and philanthropist John B Stetson in 1886. Situated right between Orlando and Daytona in DeLand makes it convenient for all visiting the central Florida area. This is Florida's first luxury estate and houses some of the most beautiful and intricate parquet floors in the world. The mansion has hosted such noted guests as President Cleveland, King Edward VII, the Astors, the Vanderbilts, Louis C Tiffany and Thomas Edison. In fact this is one of the first homes in the world to be designed and built with Edison electricity and Mr Edison oversaw the install himself. This is not your typical Victorian mansion though. The owners have painstakingly renovated every square inch of the 10,000 sq foot masterpiece while incorporating today's modern conveniences. All this was done without compromising the architectural or historical integrity. Every room on every one of the three floors is magnificently decorated and every room features a different style floor and window design. There is not one room that is off limits for visitors to see on their guided tour, you get to see it all including the owner's suite and the original 1886 schoolhouse which has been lovingly restored and converted to a "Zen"like cottage. There is also a beautiful meditation garden, gazebo and pool area for visitors to enjoy. Reservations are required $20-$30 per person $10 for children. Payment is cash or check at the door and we do charge applicable sales tax.

This is a must see attraction - Stetson Mansion. I was there at Christmas time and it was the most beautiful Christmas experience I have ever had. Our tour guide, Debbie, brought the Mansion to life for us with her stories and love of the enchanting home. Extra special because the designer/owner/decorator of the Mansion, JT, talked with us. Cannot... More

Third time visiting the Stetson Mansion and it just keeps getting better! Our tour guide Debbie was super personable and kept things interesting and lively with her knowledge of the home, owners, decorations, history and anecdotal stories. I truly felt like a guest in the home rather than a paying customer, how awesome is that? The home is amazing and... More

You cannot imagine the detail, the amount of ornaments and garland as well as natural beauty that is integrated into this magnificent display. If I lived closer, I would go several times to make sure I didn't miss anything. The grandeur of the home itself is amazing, but all of the decorations and the stories behind them will surely captivate... More

Words like breathtaking, amazing, stunning, mine blowing, captivating, only begin to describe this home. As I took the Christmas tour, I had only one complaint.....the hour and a half tour was too short. To absorb everything, I personally needed two full days. No kidding, you can not imagine how many decorations (really beautiful ones) are arranged so perfectly in every... More

We toured the mansion last evening with the 5p.m. tour. JoAnn was our tour guide and made us feel very welcome. She is very knowledgeable about the mansion's history and obviously loves her job. We were also pleasantly surprised to meet JT, one of the owners of the mansion and the man solely responsible for the Christmas decorating. The home... More

Awesome! So glad that you and your parents decided to come and check us out but more importantly that you all loved it. Watching families and friends tour the mansion is so much fun because they each are picking out their favorite room or tree and walking closely with together learning about the history of the mansion while the Christmas... A beautiful period house restored with taste and intelligence and modern indulgence. The magnificent , original parquet floors differed from room to room and were highly complimented by the new , stenciled - almost wallpaper - walls and softly glowing faux wall finishes. The ceilings were painted to accent the wonderfully chosen ( amazingly new ) light fixtures. The gorgeous... More

The mansion, built by John Stetson in the late 19th century, had fallen on hard times before it was rescued by its current owners. Determination, hard work, money and lots of imagination brought this jewel back to life. Our tour guide, Debbie, recreated the mansion's life as it must have been long ago. However, the gorgeous holiday decorations created a... More
