I wish I could give negative stars. I found GoneKayaking through a meetup site where they were to go over kayaking basics, equipment and safety. I l reserved my spot along with a short message that I am new and very excited about the meet-up. There were approximately 7-8 people who showed up, all of which seemed to pretty much know each other. The organizer and his wife never even one acknowledged my presence - not even a "hello". The demonstration was directed to one person only and in fact started with "where's Christy? Christy, come here, I want to show you something". Since the "demo" was directed to this Christy person, there was no run-down on the kayaks (different types) just some fin information, and definitely nothing on safety. After the demo, I followed some of the folks to the ocean where they started to jump on kayaks and head out to sea. The organizer once again looked at me (as he did several times prior) and said nothing!! I left. It's not like I'm asking for a mariachi band, however, I drove 40 minutes to meet this group at 9am in the morning on the beach, as a single woman (no friends or husband in tow), paid for parking and I was completely ignored, totally unacknowledged in this small group. I did go over to introduce myself to a couple in the group but still a cold reception. I really cannot believe that human decency and warmth ran so low. It was such a waste of time and completely out-of-line rude. Morale to the story... there are several other kayaking tours and groups in the area that are welcoming and will make sure your concerns on safety are addressed.

This is a great day trip. You can make your own kayak trip. They will drop off the kayak where you want it in Boca Raton, Deerfield, Highland, pretty much anywhere in South Florida. You can kayak all day, then stop somewhere else and they will pick you up. Kayak either the intercoastal for a calm trip, filled with house watching and boat admiring, or go out in the ocean for a more adventuresome experience. Great service. Tell them when you want to go and you can go.
