I wish I could write a better review, because Billy seems like a good guy, but I rely on fellow tripadvisors to provide me with the unvarnished truth, so I have say that Billy just didn't seem prepared for this trip. Having been on many chartered trips, I have learned over time that, in addition to integrity, what you really pay for is the captain's knowledge and preparation. Those two things will normally put you on fish, but it is called "fishing" not "catching", so my review is based only on those two factors, not that we didn't catch the fish we were targeting. For reference, we were fishing inshore, near the inlet, targeting redfish. Knowledge: Billy certainly seemed knowledgeable and he really wanted us to catch fish. He knew the locations and methods that worked for catching redfish. The only real issue here is that he seemed locked in on a plan for the day and when it wasn't working he didn't have a backup plan or the gear to allow us to try a different plan. Preparation: Missing gear. He had to borrow a boat because his was down. These are some of the items that he said he didn't have for one reason or another; towels, radio, gps, heavier fishing weights, inlet rods, replacement pin for trolling motor. Boat issues. The pin on trolling motor broke, and so Billy was only able to cast the net once and caught a single finger mullet (which happened to be the only bait we got a redfish bite on). Billy did provide pinfish and shrimp. The boat also had some type of fuel issue that prevented running at full speed at times and had us wondering if we would end up being towed back to the ramp. No plan B. We sat in the same hole for a few hours without any success, moved up the channel about 100 yards without success and then to a final location for about 20 minutes without a bite before I called it a day. He indicated that had he brought some heavier rods, we would have tried some different locations. On the positive side, I do believe Billy really wanted to put us on the fish. Also, Billy did offer to send us a $100 gift certificate for us to use the next time we are in the area.
