Florida landscapes from Key West to Daytona by important American artists, many trained in Europe, a few European themselves. The sunshine state offers an incredible light palette with unique and interesting subjects. A great place to spend a couple of hours on a hot day and enrich yourself and maybe even inspire any budding artists in the family.

I was absolutely blown away by this museum!!! I'm not sure what I expected when I heard "Florida art", but it definitely wasn't this! I had a little time to kill before I had to be at the airport to fly home, and decided to stop in. I'm so glad I did, and I will definitely be back every time I'm in the area. If you enjoy art, you will love this beautiful museum. The quality of the art on display, the framing and description cards, and the building are all first-rate. I've been to many of the top art museums in the US and Europe, and this museum compares very favorably! The subject matter is all Florida, as depicted by famous and lesser-known but very talented artists over the last couple of hundred years. The art and museum are the passion project of the couple for whom the museum is named, and all the art is from their personal collection of 2600+ pieces.
I only had an hour until closing time, and while I had a chance to see everything, I would have preferred more time to read all the painting descriptions and linger at some of the spectacular pieces. You could spend anywhere from 15 minutes to 3+ hours here, depending on how "into" art you are. I highly recommend a visit here!
The icing on the cake for me was that the Browns' themselves happened to be there as I was leaving, and I had the opportunity to speak with Mrs. Brown, who was so lovely and gracious. They have given a wonderful gift to their community, and this is a true gem in Volusia County.

This is a private collection on display in a museum the owners built. It shows art from the earliest time when people first settled in Fla. Every painting reflects the history of what Fla.was like then to pretty much present day. The place is beautiful and relaxing allowing you to soak in the history. It was very nice. Good place to take visitors.

The Brown Museum of Art is a smallish art museum a few miles from the beach part of Daytona Beach.
The collection is all Florida art, which is actually better than you might think. Quite a few late 1800s and early 1900s paintings of old Florida.
It's a good rainy day activity. If you're really into art, it takes about 90 minutes to examine everything.
Only complaint is the lack of a restaurant. There's a small cafe with coffee. Feels like a missed opportunity. I would have easily had lunch here if they had a real restaurant.

This museum has a nice selection of Florida related art. Artwork represents Volusia County, Key West, The Seminoles, the Everglades, and even Florida weather. It is located on the same "campus" as the Museum of Arts and Science.

4/28/21; I was there for a conference and we were allowed to see the art in the main building, but the other building were unavailable to us. That was understandable. I have never see a "Florida" collection of are such as this. Some it goes back into the 1800's and a lot of 1900's work as current. The history of Florida is preserved in oils and other media. Horse and buggies on the beaches of Daytona and New Smyrna beaches was cool. Ormond beach was highlighted as well. From the Panhandle to the Keys and most of the pieces had their origins on a Florida map designated.

We visited here at the end of December as we drove from Orlando to the St. Augustine area, arriving at noon-time. Our plan was to visit the art museum, have lunch in their café (raved about at TripAdvisor), and finish off at MOAS before moving on to our new hotel. We did enjoy the artwork here—a nice-sized collection of very nice Florida landscapes. We missed their entire top floor, however, because their guest elevator was out of order (and their staircase was too long for my bum knee). As it turned out as well, the café was unexpectedly closed for an extended holiday period. I guess they didn’t consider that many people travel over the holidays, and such facilities as onsite cafes are indeed appreciated.
So our visitor experience (all of 30 minutes) here was just average. Fortunately, we had better “luck” at MOAS (reviewed separately). Fortunately, too, our admission was free here through our NARM membership, as I would not have liked paying admission for just half the museum.

Their Florida art collection is unbelievably wonderful! We have visited several times, and each time see something different. Hard to believe the talent of some artists!

Beautifully displayed in attractive and comfortable building. Large collection in all artistic styles with some outstanding and famous artists. Must return -- too much to see for one visit. We will go there often and a great place to take out-of-town visitors. A fabulous gift to the city by the Browns -- thank you!

This is a beautiful new addition to Volusia County and the MOAS family. We love visiting the MOAS and were able to visit the new Museum of the Art as part of a combo ticket this past week.
We were very impressed with the facility. Beautiful and clean with lovely architecture and a gorgeous grand staircase as the focal point of the inside of the museum.
We enjoyed speaking with the museum representative and learned quite a bit about the Brown family and their generosity. There's a lovely little museum gift shop and also the Honeybaked Ham Company Cafe where you can get sandwiches, sweet treats, coffee, etc. You can eat in the open area before entering the galleries or outside on the nice patio.
The galleries on both levels were filled with impressive Florida art from the Brown's collection. We enjoyed the interesting background information about the artists or the pieces that are near each and every work. Very informative.
We *could* do without some of the other guests who were loudly talking, laughing, and just making themselves VERY known as we tried to enjoy the gallery in peace.
I'm by no means a stick in the mud, but please remember that your voice TRAVELS when you're in a museum and others may like to quietly contemplate the artwork and not hear every word of your conversation or your loudly chatting on a cellphone. Be courteous and respectful of others! Go outside if you want to hold huge loud conversations amongst each other.
Other than that, it was wonderful. HIGHLY recommend!

No paintings for sale, just a beautiful collection. They may give you some tips for galleries. You should try Jeff Ripple gallery in micanopy. He shows art at winter park art festival and has a website.
