Arrived after close. Was met by security officer who was very accomodating. Well protected and very convenient to restaurants.

Check out the houses of all the rich people
Apr 2021
I've been boating on the river a half dozen times in the past few months. There are lots of dockside restaurants (and bars) where you can boat up and enjoy a little local cuisine. The river itself is not terribly scenic, but if you like spending time on the water, you'll like this I reckon.
No matter which direction you go, you'll see lots of houses that could be on the old show Lifestyles of the Rich & Famous. Lots of beautiful homes - and you can also rate how nice their docks are.

It's a river
Jul 2020
Actually it is an estuarine lagoon, but for symplicity we'll call it the Halifax River. As a river, it is not inherently good or bad. It just is. If you have a boat and go out on the river you will probably have fun. If your boat breaks down and you are stranded, you probably won't have fun. If you go fishing in the river and catch some fish, you will probably have fun. If you don't catch any fish and you get severely sunburned and/or bitten by crabs, you will probably not have fun. If you live in one of the big houses along the river and can watch the sunset over the water, you will probably have fun. If you are running from the police and hiding in a sewage pipe next to the river, you probably will not have fun. Swimming, fun. Drowning, not fun. It's all a matter of perspective, just like life.

It’s a River

Hard to know what to say. Relaxing to drive alongside. Water is very murky and rough looking. Some beautiful homes along the east and west banks.

Beautiful

Halifax is a beautiful river. Marked well with buoys. Lots of sand bars and sunken boats after hurricanes so stay on course.

Fantastic view when you go over the bridges to Daytona
Sep 2019
We have been going to Daytona/Ormond Beaches for 35 years. When you get to the top of the bridges you see the ocean. I get excited every time we go over the bridges.

Halifax River flows east to the Atlantic. They have swimming, boats, but mainly its a smaller body of water for ducks and birds.

Very pretty and calm water.

There is so much on the river to see and do. It's just nice to sit and look at it. You can rent a book or take a tour on it.

Dine and Cruise a good meal and value
Mar 2019 • Family
Our party of 6 greatly enjoyed the 2 hour lunch and cruise on the Halifax River. The paddle wheeler was a fun and comfortable ride, and we all enjoyed our lunch. The favorite choice was the ham dinner. The only complaint was that most of the door prizes were alcohol. Too bad.

Always Find Beauty Here
Feb 2019 • Solo
This is what some people call the Intracoastal Waterway, which you can find parts of, up and down the Florida Atlantic coast. Here it is the Halifax River. It starts down by Ponce Inlet, and run north up past Ormond Beach. It is separated from the ocean by a sand spit that is wide enough to support communities like Daytona Beach Shores. Beautiful homes line its shores, much of the way. You can take boat tours along it (for a fee). Since it feeds directly into the sea, it is salt water. Lots of palms, pines, sea grasses and wildlife. There are also roads that run parallel to it, on either side, for much of its distance.
