The Museum of Arts & Sciences (MOAS) is the primary art, science and history museum in Central Florida. The area's largest museum, MOAS is nationally accredited by the American Alliance of Museums and is a Smithsonian Institution Affiliate. Located on a 90-acre Florida nature preserve, the 100,000 square foot facility is host to over 30,000 objects including the Dow Gallery of American Art, one of the finest collections of American art in the Southeast, the Schulte Gallery of Chinese Art, the Bouchelle Collection and Gallery of Decorative Arts, the largest and most comprehensive collection in the South, and the Root Family Museum featuring restored railroad cars, antique automobiles and the largest collection of Coca-Cola(R) memorabilia in Florida. The Helene B. Roberson Visible Storage Building exhibits thousands of objects from many donors which are owned by the Museum, while the Linda and Williams Children's Museum presents an interactive experience for children. A new state-of-the-art planetarium and the Cici and Hyatt Brown Museum of Art showcasing the largest collection of Florida-based art in the world, rounds out areas to explore inside the Museum of Arts & Sciences. The Museum's new West Wing will open to the public on October 30, 2015. The West Wing contains the Gillespy Gallery of Sub-Saharan African artifacts, the Cuban Foundation Museum showcasing one of the most significant collections of Cuban paintings in the United States, and a prehistory of Florida gallery, featuring Florida's Giant Ground Sloth skeleton.

We went on a Thursday and there were only 4 couples in the entire museum! It was strangely relaxing to walk some of the halls with absolutely no one in sight. The West Wing was closed, and there was no 'science' to the museum except the planetarium shows. It is not very far to walk from one place to the... More

The Science part of the museum was still under construction while we were there and I feel when this gets completed at the end of October 2015, this will be the hit of the museum. There was a lot of diversity here. I particularly enjoyed the Coca Cola history. There was a lot of artwork and was amazed of how... More

Okay, I confess I am a member of this museum , but in my opinion of one who travels and visits many museums MOAS is the museum that offers so much... and to list the pluses here goes. This museum is incredible with ever changing exhibits and ongoing permanent generously donated ones. There is a new wing from the Cici... More

We spent a couple of hours at the museum and found it interesting with engaging exhibits. I particularly liked the collection in the Root Family Wing, which featured extensive Coca Cola memorabilia as the Root Family was involved extensively in bottling and distributing of Coke. I also liked the Chinese art exhibit, which was relatively extensive for a small-ish museum.... More

We were looking for some indoor things to do while on vacation and ran across this museum. We liked it and spent a couple of hours looking around. There were so many interesting things to look at. The thing that stuck with me the most was the teddy bear collection...wow. So many teddy bears!

Went to see the Laser Zeppelin show. Some great Zeppelin songs put to a fantastic laser show. Just wish the music would have been LOUDER! lol They have other laser shows too that I will be checking out.

Good Slow, Take time to enjoy the art but be sure to read the information about the art. There is a lot of history there. If you are a Volusia County resident be sure to go on the 1st Tuesday of the month. It's free. Be sure to take your ID.

This is a great place for families. We watched a planetarium show about telescopes. It was great! The art section was skipped because we have very young children. The cool place was the race track. Children build their own racecars and race them. You have to be patient and wait your turn as it is a popular exhibit. I loved... More

For a museum in a not-so-huge city, the Daytona Museum of Arts and Science is a good collection of sample exhibits and is certainly worth seeing. Some larger museums cannot be covered in a day, but this one is small enough to be interesting and educational across many fields of interest and can be covered generally within a few hours.... I have been to this museum several times and never get tired of it. They have a fantastic exhibit on Coca Cola memorabilia and an awesome Teddy Bear collection. There are paintings to view, antique furniture, cars and race cars, and a huge prehistoric sloth. There is also an antique train car exhibit. It's not a huge museum but there... More
