About
Captain John Schmidt was born and raised in the Daytona Beach area. He has over 20 years experience fishing the waters around Daytona Beach as a fishing guide and as a commercial fisherman. Captain John offers inshore fishing charters, offshore deep sea fishing charters, shark fishing trips and guided scenic tours. His fishing charters are family friendly and children are always welcome. His boat is a 26' Sea Fox with an oversized T-Top for shade and an enclosed head (toilet) for your convenience. His boat capacity is 6 passengers and group charters for more than 6 persons are also available. Captain John targets Snook, Redfish and Seatrout on his inshore charters and Cobia, Amberjack, King Mackerel, Sharks and many varieties of Grouper and Snapper on his offshore and deep sea fishing trips.

My wife and I went out with Captain John for a off shore fishing charter. We started catching red snapper & sharks right after he put anchor done. John is very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. We will definitely use him again and recommend him to others.

Took my son out for his 18th birthday and had a great day! Capt John was professional and fun. Caught a wide variety of fish - snapper, grunts, sea bass, barracuda, shark and flounder. Took the flounder to a local restaurant and had a yummy lunch afterwards. Thanks Capt John!

John was an awesome guide! He was a lot of fun to enjoy the water with! He put us right on the fish! If we got out bait taken, he was there to bait our lines so we could get right back to fishing. He made the whole trip so much fun for our family. Will definitely go with him when we go back to Daytona Beach area again!

My family and I went out for a 4 hour fishing trip. We had SO much fun. John was very accommodating and helpful. He made the trip a blast for all of us. And we ALL caught a shark! I would 100% do this again!

Our first charter as a family of 5 with 3 boys we made the best choice right out of the gate. Captain John's knowledge of the area was responsible for our lines being full of fish and I mean within minutes of dropping the line. His boat was meticulously maintained and he awesome attitude and love of fishing was ever present. We are very grateful that we hired the right charter and there is no question who we will call next year..

We went out with Captain John today and had an absolute blast...! 4 people including myself and altogether we caught 111 fish!!! We all caught an insane amount of fish including 15 sharks! What an adventure and what a great time. I highly recommend Floating Time to anyone wanting to charter around the Daytona Area. We will be back to do this again!

After calling numerous other charters and finding one that we new we didn't want we found Captain John. He was great since we had never been he said he would keep the whole day open for us. We started out with a 4 hour trip and we ended up extending it to 6 hours. While we only came home with 4 fish that we could keep but we caught so many fish. We had 6 people in our group and while we were not shark fishing we all got to catch a shark and if you have not done that it's a lot of fun. Captain John was very flexible and we had a lot of fun.

This trip was fantastic! Captain John let us bring our two small dogs and they loved the ride. I would certainly recommend if you want a private boat tour! We even saw dolphin which was a bonus.

Captain John gave us a great trip on the Halifax River. The boat was clean and comfortable, and the fishing was a great time. Would definitely come back when next in Daytona!

Took my son on a charter with Captain John for his 16th Birthday. We caught lots of fish and had a great time! The captain was super knowledgeable and offered great customer service!
