There are many trails, from very short going to the butterfly garden to medium at 1200 feet to long at 3200 feet. I liked this one the most as part of it parallels the river where you can watch the boats go by. Also on the far side you can see some amazing houses, but one was blocked from view... More

Great place to walk, meditate, run, take kids really enjoy nature here. Great boardwalks here. It's free and a better place to go with family then being cooped up indoors somewhere. Great place!!!

Not sure if it was the time of year but if so you might want to avoid February if you are going here expecting to see anything besides vegetation. The nature trails are nice and even elevated in most places. There just weren't any animals to be seen. The nature center probably has the nicest rest rooms of any public... More

This park is not well known and should be. It's a beautiful nature center and a great experience for children 7 years and up. There are nice walkways, a butterfly garden, an area along the intercoastal where manatees have been spotted. They also have a room, especially for children, for teaching about the nature of the area. It would be... More

Most of it is boardwalk and shaded by trees. I saw little wild life, but maybe 10am is a little too late or I should have asked a ranger. Saw the ripple of a Manatee wake. two butterflies, one bird, one balloon stuck in a tree and a tin can. Plenty of Spiders and a few crabs.

This is a beautiful place to visit. Butterfly Island had many Zebra butterflies that were fascinating to watch flit around. The trails are short but beautiful with much of the way on a boardwalk through the wetland. We saw crabs and unusual birds and squirrels in addition to the butterflies. This is a great place for a relaxing stroll but... More

Just off downtown Ft L on State Rd 84 a mile west of I-95 is Secret Woods. Good parking, good walks! You will walk through the boardwalk through the swamps and trails to the river and back. There are birds, reptiles, other animals and well identified plants and trees. It is beautiful, peaceful and natural.

Spend an hour walking among mangroves and along the river, where manatees are frequently sighted. Butterfly garden is interesting, along with a few exhibits on nature. Friendly docent to introduce you what there is to offer.

We were staying at a local hotel and looking for someplace to walk and the front desk clerk suggested walking to the Secret Woods. So glad she did! What a great place! Their interpretive center would be great for kids to play and learn at. We took the public tour at 9:30 with Scott who was incredibly knowledgeable and passionate... More

A gentle 90 minute stroll including some bench lolling. Not much wildlife revealed itself on our visit but it still takes you away from the crowds and the traffic and the routines. Easy parking. Nice boardwalks, accessible to everyone. Clean washrooms. Plenty of benches. Paths are mostly sheltered from the sun by the overhanging trees. Yes, pleasant is the best... More
