A good selection of high end retail shops anchored by Nordstrom and Neiman Marcus. Shady three story mall is not air conditioned and is exposed to the outside. Shops are comfortably air conditioned. Good selection of restaurants as well.

The Village of Merrick Park

A fantastic-chic place to Enjoy life...Miami style !

This Village style Mall was built first years of this new Millennium
As old architect, specialized in urban development, even some would say that this complex has many functional architectural faults, it is, in many ways, a nice example of that new trends of semi-opened, Village style commercial areas, trendy at those times
Every time we are visiting ultramodernist Miami we stop by this beautiful Village Mall, as we did-once more time-last August while we were there enjoying a Southeastern Floridian miniGastrotour.
Those days, as always, we were staying at a hotel place that we love; the "Mandarin Oriental" at Brickell areas, enjoying two gastronomic places there; the old iconic "Azul" and the new FANTASTIC "La Mar by Gaston Acurio". From there to Merrick Park, without those terrible traffic congestion, typically in Miami rush hours, is just 15-20 minutes drive.
That location in the skirts of Coral Gables, by "Le Jeune" road, US 1 and Ponce de Leon corner is great and perfect; south and nearby Miami Int'l Airport and, lets say, "interland-equidistantly" to must of the most important residential, working and touristic of greater Miami areas.
Architecturally speaking; this is a grand Court yarded great set patio, with very attractive landscape, sculptures and lively fountains, surrounded for high end retail stores and other costumers facilities, like many restaurants or just enjoying people watching
It's a kind of three-level, outdoor amenities, which include a variety of those luxury retailers and high-end stores, framing its tropical setting.
This Mall Village, with all those attractions, is a must visit place for international travelers as well as locals.
One of its many perks is its great covered Parking, with many different access, but besides that it has a nice Valet parking provided on site and there are many street metered parking available around the mall

Among those many upscale brand retail stores and several dining locations, the Village is anchored by Neiman Marcus and Nordstrom, two stores places highly located in my dear wife's shopping list. For mens, besides those two, there is one of the best boutique "Canali" store around the area
Last time there we particularly enjoyed shopping at both; Neiman's and Nordstrom, but we had a terrible early dining experience at a restaurant place located there called "Sawa"; the interior of this place (restrooms) was in "deplorable" and sloppy conditions, as you can read in my review for it.
Other than that they are many nice eating places, around its Courtyard, to please all kind of discerning foodies

Regarding the critics for its many architectural design faults, what I can only truly state, as architect, is that when its raining (which is many times in Miami) is difficult to walk, by its semi-covered walkways and corridors...without getting really wet.
Its nice electric stairs located outside are an even better sculptural detail, adding attraction to those architectural spaces, but when its raining-as pretty as they looks- they are neither practical nor useful at all. They should be relocated- if possible ?... under real better covered porticos and not just under those beautiful, but fragile to weather conditions, tropical canvas.
Another great architectural details are their majestic main entrances to its Center Areas, strategically located on its north, east and west sides.

This is-no doubt-my kind of architectural lovely designed Mall Building, one that I highly recommend to visit, to buy high end goodies...
and enjoy life...Miami style !

The Village of Merrick Park is an open air pretty 2 story mall a few minutes from US1. Once you visit it is obvious that this mall was built for the rich upper class and not the average working class Miami resident. The snobs for which Dadeland mall is too low class shop here. It is filled with expensive designer stores where the average person would never go to. This mall with such expensive stores has the nerve to charge by the hour for parking in their garage. It is so nice to pay by the minute for the privilege of spending my money at stores. But to those for which money doesn't matter, paying to keep others away is worth it. Free parking anywhere nearby is unheard of, as the corrupt city has metered every curb in the area for miles. There is a grassy area on the lower level where kids that are bored with being dragged by parents to shop can run around. If you visit any of the nice restaurants, expect to pay at least $25.00 for one of the cheapest entrees. I absolutely avoid this place unless I have no choice.

The only thing that I can say really positive is that this place is not Dadeland with all of the crowds. This, after it is all said and done, is just a shopping mall. If your life revolves around going to Neiman Marcus, Tiffany's, Nordstrom's etc., then you will feel complete when you shop here.

The Village of Merrick Park was a very nice outdoor mall. It was 3 levels and there is a parking deck (you need to pay to park). We walked around and it was beautiful although it was a bit high end. The people that shopped there reminded me of Pepe la Pew (wore lots of perfume, a bit stuck up and made it a turn off to us). We enjoyed the walk but it was a bit hot. It was overall a nice stroll.

They have all the nice stores in Florida, its a summer shopping center as if it rains, it is not covered, so you will not be comfortable going from one shop to another in the rain. It has some very nice restaurants. Good and large parking place.

As a frequent visitor of Merrick Mall and Landmark Theatre, I was completely uphauled at the behavior of parking attendants and staff. We had finished watching a movie at the theatre and had payed for the parking and went to our car. We stayed in the car for 12 mins. As we headed out, at the Le Jeune #201 exit, the parking structure would not let us out and told us to pay an additional 3 dollars. We called the parking attendant who repeated to tell us that we had overstayed after paying and that once paying you must leave. We asked to have an attendant sent down, which did not happen. After calling once again, the attendant would not answer my question as to how much time we had to leave. She said between 10-15, I then proceeded to ask whether 13 mins was not in fact in between 10 and 15. She then changed her tune to tell us that we had 10 mins to leave and must pay for the additional 2 hours if we intended to leave. This is incompetence should not be tolerated and tourists and residents be aware that they are trying to take your money. So if you watch a movie at Merrick make sure to book it out of there before you end up spending your entire college tuition on a parking ticket. ;)))
