Located at the University of Miami its not a large museum yet it has a wide range of artifacts. They have exhibits, photographs, paintings. Right now they have 'Highlights from the Fairholm Unlimited Foundation'.

This is mostly a collection of Asian and African artifacts with very little paintings or photographs to inspire imagination. Two galleries were closed.

The art collection contained within the Lowe makes for a good 1 to 2 hour visit. A wide range of periods and styles is on display. The contemporary portion is especially interesting. Beware of the people though. The campus police are simply offensive and very pushy. They are not at all tolerant of tourists and those who are unaccustomed to... More

We stopped at this museum after debarking our cruise in Miami and having to find a decent indoor activity due to rain. It's not very large and can be completed in about an hour or so. Very quiet and peaceful. Everything is laid out in an archaeological manner, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The exhibits vary from artifacts to beautiful and... More

I lived in the area for three years before I visited the Lowe Museum. Since it's on the University of Miami campus, I dismissed as uninteresting which was a mistake. It has some excellent collections of native North and South American art; American art; and photography; among others. Like most museums, most of the holdings aren't on view at any... More

It had been too many years since I visited the Lowe. We thought about it several times and finally made it! It was totally worth the trip. The collection has expanded and improved! The African, including Egypt, collection is note worthy! The Native people's collection is also. The Asian collection is also off to a good start. Most noteworthy is... More

With most museums focusing on contemporary art, this university museum shows a bit of everything. Good Native American, African, Asia, pre-Columbian collections. Good painting collections. It's a shame the gift shop has closed - I always enjoyed getting unusual presents there.

My wife does a lot of glass art work for fun and we went to the Lowe to see their collection. The campus was very quite, and we basically had the entire museum to ourselves. Several of their galleries we down for exhibit changes, so they reduced the ticket price 50% which I thought was nice. The glass art gallery... More
