This is where it all started. Our docent, Kurt S., shared the fascinating history of Coral Gables, the surrounding area, and the man behind it all, George Merrick. We really enjoyed the home tour and will definitely be back.

If you like history and learning alittle about the cities you visit then this is a must. The house is only open Wednesday & Sundays, tours are 1:00- 4:00 PM promptly on the hour. Seniors, military, and students are $3, everyone else, $5, which covered the tour of the home. The tours are given by volunteers, ours was Juan and he was excellent. The tour was layed back and unhurried, plenty of time for stories of Coral Gables history, questions were received and answered with true interest. After the tour we were able to walk about the gardens and through the groto on our own- again no one hurried you through, which is great for me as I love picking up new gardening ideas to attempt at home. Beautiful home, hugely informative and friendly tour, this is a definate "gotta do"!

It's being renovated but not well advertised that it's been closed- staff at Coral Gables museum were not sure., and the Merrick web site is not very explicit !

The title is about the best compliment I can give. I won't bore you by redescribing the venue as others have ably done.

This is THE gateway to Coral Gables. If you want to understand the area, rather than just look at it, do this.

Our docent, Ms Gay, is a jewel of Coral Gable lore. She loves her hometown and it shows.

Nice house, pond with fish and gardens. The museum is interesting about the founder & pioneer who developed the Coral Gables & Miami areas. Nice collections.

Coral Gables and the Merrick House is a great place to visit. The beauty of the city is amazing! I was so impressed that I put together a video on my Youtube channel at "thewrightsights". Learn a little about the history of this "City Beautiful"!

Merrick was the architect of Coral Gables and this was his home. It is beautiful and the guides are very knowledgeable and nice to talk to. Take a tour - it's worth it. The gardens are also very nice and you could probably have a picnic here if you wanted to.

I went to this park for a photoshoot and it left me pretty speechless. The house is so vintage and beautiful! There's many colors that pop and the Ocean is right next to it. There's also a huge field of grass where many event/activities take place. I heard they also do a night tour which appealed to me very much and id like to do it some time. Overall, very nice, huge park, with lots of nature and beautiful history!

Nice place to visit and great restaurants.
Upscale shopping with many brands to choose from.
Ice cream stores. Be careful st Godiva chocolate not to be overcharged for your purchase .... sales lady was very rude to us when we found out she overcharged us and didn't even bother to apologize! Instead just told us we don't have to buy there!!!
We had a great dinner at the French restaurant bistro.

My wife and I were luck to stumble to the Merrick home on a day when they had an event for the community. We got there just before closing and we were allowed to tour the home. We were very happy to get our timing just right. Otherwise, the house is only open a few days per week. The home dates back the nascent time of Coral Gables when the founding fathers first arrived to begin settling and developing the area.
