Still enjoyable!

I grew up going to Matheson Hammock Park and Beach. It was a childhood and teen hangout in my earlier yers, and I still visit it now over 50 years later. I still enjoy it, but there are a lot of beer cans almost everywhere you look now. The maintenance could be better, it's overcroweded, but it's still very enjoyable.... More

A beautiful lagoon and swimming area. A great area to take young children and let them wade in the water. They have a marina and a boat ramp. A perfect place to take photos also.

Definitely not pet friendly. Not the beach area. The walks and trails are but they're a bit far ( walking distance) from the beach. There's a park immediately after entering the road that leads to the beach and before the paying station. This park is great, it has a lake and it also has trails, picnic tables, etc. it's pet... If you've been to this place you're probably not a local or maybe you're a tourist. This place is disgusting and when you read the sight at the entrance it says something about risk of illness from swimming. My sister came out of the water saying that she is itchy and that there's brown gunk in the water. Honestly last... More

Easy access, to a relaxed beach and walking area. We take a picnic and know it won't take long to get there. Much more convenient and far less crowded than the Ocean beaches.

Its a good place only if you have young kids and dont want to drive to the beach. Young kids can have a lot of fun if you take their bicycles, they are camping tables and a little ocean water pond in the middle. Theres lots of people during the weekends.

It isn't a WOW beach, actually it is a little bit dirty because the water stagnates but on the other hand is a quiet beach with a beautiful view of Miami.

It has a shallow lake whose water is furnished by the Atlantic ocean. Many families and all other kinds of people go there. You can either bathe first, bike ride later or vise-versa. There's enough area for cycling. More importantly, bring your mountain bike because there's a little off-roading that you can do. There's a marina nearby for people who... More

Some friends invited me to a picnic at this park. I was picked up and we all arrived in one vehicle. The entrance fee is reasonable compared to the cost of valet parking anywhere in Miami. we parked near the bay and relaxed while we enjoyed an amazing view. Definitely a hidden gem !

This park has a marina. They have sailing classes. And the park is quite beautiful. But the most delightful part of the park is the atoll pool. The atoll pool is actually a saltwater pond flushed by the tidal movement of the Biscayne Bay. Children can enjoy the independence of exploring and swimming while laughing and playing. Parents can appreciate... More
