Kayaking!

Was here on a weekday. We felt like we had the beach to ourselves! We rented Kayaks which was a lot of fun. The water is warm and calm.

This is a nice beach where children can play in the sand safely and the water is not deep. One concern has to do with the quality of the water. The park indicates the quality on a local board and most of the time it is safe (I have not seen otherwise) but it is a lagoon where the water... More

DO NOT SWIM in the Matheson Hammock Park tidal lagoon! Even though presumably the water is refreshed at every high tide, the bacteria in the lagoon remains, and woe be the uninformed bather who develops an ear or eye infection as a result of simple recreational activity there. The mere observation of the number of non-toilet-trained toddlers who relax in... More

This is a pool like area sectioned off from the ocean. The days we were there it was pretty empty, but I hear that usually there are families with children there. I prefer the ocean, but it was pleasant. There is a nice restaurant there and it is very scenic.

Probably the better boat ramp south of Coconut grove. Beutiful park with lots of services including a marina gas station.

Been going to this place since I was a kid, have taken my kids and now my grandson. I love going over there early in the morning for some yoga and meditation and a nice walk.

This park is nice to come and have a picnic at or ride your bike..Stay away from the little beach area! The sand is dark, the water is black with a whole bunch of crabs and fishes in it you cant see where you are stepping. This beach is ideal for people with babies and small children as the water... This is a beautiful Park with an artificial beach that feeds from open waters. Lately (July 2015) the water has been very dirty with mushy algae and oil from the close by a marina. There are flying fishes around and last time I visited, there were dead fish also. A swimmer said it's because people fishing and throwing back into... More

This may be a great place for boaters. Or to have dinner at the restaurant. To come here to spend the day swimming? Not for us. Thought we'd give this a try after not coming here for many years. It is not a very clean looking or appealing beach. Not happy to pay to get in to such a dirty... More

On my recent visit to Miami my friend took me to Matheson Hammocks to chill out. You pay $6 to park but the place is stunning. Definitely recommend this place.. A piece of paradise :) we also watched the July 4th celebrations in the evening. It's a great place to do this. We must have seen 9 different displays in... More
