My wife and I had a kayak tour previously scheduled through a different company that got cancelled in the morning, so the Island Boat Lines tour was a last minute decision that we found online. Tour guides were knowledgeable and nice for the majority of the tour - though the narration took an odd turn when they started discussing the history of the area. We saw a variety of birds and quite a few dolphins, and the ride itself was fairly relaxing.
One thing we did notice, however, was a discrepancy in pricing when paying in advance vs. paying on location with cash. We paid online via their website ahead of time and actually wound up paying $10-15 more than a couple who arrived a few minutes before the boat was scheduled to launch. Kind of felt like we were being punished for planning ahead, even if it was just by a few hours.
Overall, I would recommend the tour; two hours on a boat looking for wildlife isn't a bad way to spend a couple hours.

The boat was comfortable and quiet, which was important because the tour is relaxing and does take some time. The Captain did great, taking us near and far, and the First Mate was encyclopedic about the area, the wildlife, and the history of the area.
We saw much water life, including dolphin (mom and child), manatee (mom and child) and some flying fish (that I cannot remember the name of... but they were awesome to watch jump.) Plus many birds and some dogs!
The area is beautiful even if we were to miss the creatures. The boat lands at a very nice outdoor bar and grill that my wife grew very fond of after our excursion.
This was worth every penny and I will do it again on our next visit. I was very glad to have found a relaxing thing to do while in the area that could bring so much joy.

Family was visiting from PA and WA and we had the opportunity to book a trip on Island Boat Lines to view a SpaceX Launch of 60 satellites. What an awesome experience! Capt Bill and First Mate Kurt were the perfect hosts. Not just a boat trip, Kurt narrated with his local knowledge and humor; Capt Bill handled the choppy waters with ease. Saw a few dolphin along the way. Would definitely recommend!!

We enjoyed our time out on the water to watch the liftoff of Space X Dragon on April 23. My friends and booked at the last minute online for the special charter going out to view the launch. I was happy with the emails and instructions from the company advising where to find the boat dock. The night before the cruise, we drove over to check out the parking situation so we'd know where to park. We arrived around 430am to make the 549am launch. Hot coffee on the boat would have been nice, but we had enough time to drive to 7-11 to buy some. The boat was not even half full, and we were comfortable not wearing masks. We made our way to as close to the launch site as allowed, all the while listening to the banter of the Space X commentators over the boat's speakers. This was my first live launch, and I was very happy to have an unobstructed view - although we were not as close as I'd hoped. I'd imagined we'd feel the roar of the power, or even hear the launch, but it was fairly quiet where we were. The actual launch lit up the morning sky, and it was clear enough for us to follow the progress of the rocket until the separation stage. I felt the trip was well worth the $100 per person that we paid. Cruising back to the dock we watched the sunrise. I would recommend this as an option to watch another launch.

The presenter and captain were both very friendly, personable and knowledgeable about the area. The presenter was able to point out and explain the many animals, birds and trees we passed. Unfortunately, the waters were too cold for the manatees but we did see dolphins, egrets and ospreys. The area is beautiful and the people living along the shores were all quick with a smile and a wave.

Captain Ryan & 1st mate Jeff were great! Jeff had so much knowledge about the area and ecosystem along the Banana River. It was fun and very educational. They went out of their way to make sure that everyone on board got a chance to see the dolphins and manatee.
Thank you!
I initially had booked a sunset cruise the night before but the weather didn’t permit and the cruise was cancelled. I had no problem contacting Debbie at Dolphin Tours and I was able to get on the next afternoon tour without any questions asked.
I would definitely recommend taking a tour with this company if you’re looking for something relaxing and enjoyable to do for 2 hours.
I tried to upload some great pictures that I took but I received an error when trying to save.

We booked the sunset cruise on St. Patrick’s Day. It took off approximately 30 minutes late because someone did not show up on time. Out of respect for those that did come on time I think they should not have waited that long. The commentator started the tour by telling us that unlike the afternoon dolphin watching tour that this tour was more about relaxing so we could just sit back and relax. This was our first time to the area. We did not know the rivers or anything about the area. There was zero commentary to tell us where we were or about the area. Eventually he spotted some herons and an owl and pointed them out. We did not see any dolphin or manatee. The ride was enjoyable and the highlight was the Space X launch that we got to see as we were returning to the dock. We did hear that the company was sold and a new owner took over about 6 months ago. The website stated that the tour was 2 hours but the voicemail said 90 minutes. The website said that the tour departs at 6 p.m. but the voicemail states that it departs 1 hour before sunset. I will give this company another try when I return to the area but I will go on a daytime cruise instead of the sunset cruise.

Informative, engaging, and entertaining 2 hour tour of the intercoastal system. We saw dolphins, great blue herons, brown pelicans overwintering in the area, and learned about the diverse ecosystem. The tour includes a captain and dedicated local wildlife biologist. They made jokes to keep things lighthearted and you could hear the pride in their local community. 2 hours felt just right particularly with little ones on the boat. They encouraged walking around the boat to get pictures or closer views which was nice.

My wife and I did the Sunset version of the tour which runs basically for 2 hours starting at 6:45 pm.
The boat was smooth and comfortable, the guide Katie (a marine biologist) and captain, Adam, were both very friendly and informative. Katie especially, had a very enthusiastic, at-ease personality which was infectious to everyone on board.
We were able to observe manatees, dolphins and many species of birds. There was ample opportunity for many interesting photos, including some great sky shots as the sun descended.
I highly recommend this tour. It's relaxing and educational...plus gives a close up view of waterfront properties if you're into that :)

This was an impromptu decision and I’m so glad we did it! Came from a cruise ship, did an “excursion” which was just a drop off at Ron Jon’s in Cocoa Beach, and decided on a whim to do a wildlife tour. At first we thought we needed an Uber to get to the tour, but realized it is a very quick and easy walk, 10 minutes at most. The whole tour was fantastic— informative, entertaining, and filled with wildlife. We weren’t lucky enough to see a manatee but we saw many dolphins (several up close) tons of birds (blue herons, brown pelicans, and more I can’t remember right now). The tour guide and the boat captain were professional, friendly, and very knowledgeable. There was plenty of space to move around the boat comfortably. They even gave out bracelets and little dolphin keychains for the kids and did a great job keeping everyone entertained. And the price was great! I highly recommend checking them out and if I’m ever back in the area I’ll definitely go again!

Hello! Silly question - does the post mostly cruise or does it ever pick up speed for traveling? Planning a trip for college students :)

Hi traveling with a 3 year old who loves fishing do you have an age requirement also will there be fishing trips going on in beginning of February?
Thank you

I went on an afternoon river cruise but I understand that there are fishing charters available. The owners are a nice couple. He used to be with the Coast Guard drug intercepters and she grew up in Cocoa Beach so they have a large knowledge base between them. They are based beside the Sunset Cafe, I highly recommend eating there. Parking is a bit tight in the small lot. They take reservations and walkins. Email them you won't be disappointed

Not sure why this post was under the Island Boat Line profile. This was for a different attraction. Island Boat Lines is located at 500 West Cocoa Beach Cswy. We run two beautiful eco tour boats from the Sunset Waterfront Bar and Grill. We always ask our passengers to arrive at least 30 minutes in advance. This would allow some time in the event they have any problems traveling to the boarding location. Visit the website for lots of information. Call our office if you have any additional questions. 321-454-7414.

People should get directions before they leave and not rely on their phone or a gas station . Do they think the 28 people who showed up on tome should sit and wait for them ? Hello !
Written February 1, 2015
I had no problem finding the boat but the directions were not the greatest. When I called their business phone for information I found out that they are in New York and they provide no assistance what so ever. My last ride on this boat was the last time I will do business with them. The captain and the announcer on the board were kind of rude and would not answer basic questions. There are other eco-tours on the river that you can take.
