Amazing Production, Talent, and COVID- Savvy
Jan 2021
The 97-year-old building may get top billing on a map, but the real treasure is what happens on AND off the stage of this historic theater. My wife and I hadn't watched live theater anywhere since the start of the COVID-19 era.

Having a background in community theater, I was feeling "the itch" to see a live production somewhere, so I booked a show while on vacation.

First of all, to produce the quality of the musical "Newsies" in these pandemic times with only two months of rehearsals is phenomenal. Furthermore, rehearsal schedule spanned Christmas Break and the vast majority of its cast members were under 18. Live orchestra played magnificently beneath the stage. The sound, lighting, and stage design were superb. We plan on making a 5 hour round trip from the Tampa area for another show next year. BRAVO!!!!!

Still performing despite positive Covid cases!
Nov 2020
While I enjoyed the performance of Little Women that I attended last Saturday, this theater should be SHUT DOWN for the duration of the pandemic, as they do not take public health seriously.

I heard from a person involved with the show that a lead cast member tested positive mere days after the performance I attended. The theater did not share this information with patrons, nor did they cancel performances. They are putting the lives of all the volunteers and of all of the patrons in danger. This is unacceptable. There is a reason that the vast majority of theaters in the country are closed.

Happy to have live music back but can’t we do it safely?
Oct 2020 • Friends
We went to the opening concert of Hot Pink at CVP last night. The band was in fantastic form. Sigh a were posted to wear masks and they even took temps at the door upon entry But that was where safety ended. People were parked into balcony rows in front of us and they immediately took off their masks and had them off the entire concert. There was no enforcement or distancing except in the upper rows. The Director of the playhouse came out several times with no mask on and never mentioned the need to wear one so she can keep the venue open. The girls selling raffle tickets took off their masks once they were finished with there job and danced and sang through the concert.
When I purchased my tickets the seating chart showed two seats between every two people seated. I thought that might be tight, but acceptable. My group was very uncomfortable and moved to the upper rows. One of my guests works with elderly in another state. My son has a compromised immune system. I love live theater but the selfish attitudes of the theater administrators was appalling and dangerous.

Sound of Music
Feb 2020
More than 30 years have passed since I last saw this classic. The lapse in time is my loss. This was a very good performance given by some very talented people. They are to be commended for their work. The sets are excellent, and handled in a very professional manner by the stage crew. Lighting was very good (although the follow spot operator got lost once or twice). Costumes are outstanding. Sound and mics very well done. Stage crew very good, especially in a couple of the quick costume changes. As is to be expected with amateurs, the cast is variable. Maria and The Captain are excellent. Both with good voices and well-suited to their parts. Maria sings, acts, and moves on the stage with a deftness that well-demonstrates her training and experience. She is well-cast. The Captain has a wonderful, soft, baritone, with a very good head voice. He moves well on stage and also was well-cast. So too the Countess. She is vivacious and sings well. The children were wonderful. And who could not but love little Gretl. At only four years old she is already a star. I forget who said "Never be on stage with children and animals" but the advice was true here. The other parts were capable and conducted themselves well, except for once or twice when I thought I was listening to Florence Foster Jenkins. The orchestra was excellent, and, although I could not see him from my seat, the conductor kept everyone together admirably. I have a couple of quibbles. One - the show started late. Patrons were still being seated five minutes after the advertised start time. Latecomers should wait for Act Two. The rest of us made sure we got there on time. Why can't they? Two - the Executive Director spoke for too long. We had to listen to her for 15 minutes before the show was allowed to begin. And again for another 10 minutes before Act Two. Too much information. But those are minor issues. Overall I rate this performance as "excellent". Fabulous sets, wonderful costumes, very good sound, and a couple of voices that when heard let the mind and emotions soar. Oh, and the venue is fabulous.

Great place

Sound of music a wonderful classic and it was a great performance last night. It's hard to believe that the performers, seamster, orchestra and stage hands are all volunteers. We have attended several performances and they were all wonderful. This is a classic a must see.

Terrific! Will be returning for future productions. Tickets, seating, other logistics were well-handled. All associates were friendly and helpful. The play was fun with talented performers and beautuful costumes.

What a Pleasant Surprise-Afternoon of Theatre!
Sep 2019
This was my first time attending a production at this beautiful renovated 1924 Theatre!
I came with my Mom and her friends who are season ticket holders, I was a add on in the front row of the Balcony. Well to my surprise it is very well run, directed, costumes and scenery! The new production of “Cinderella” was a joy to watch. The voices of the leads were excellent and choreography was wonderful. All in all a wonderful afternoon on a Sunday. A Little bit of Broadway in a lovely Beach city!
