Spent a few minutes there enjoying the quietness of the area. I was happy to see the water so clean. The surrounding area is well kept. Seating to use, tables a swing. Great inviting area.

Trying to do some summer beach for the kids this summer I really wanted to take them to the beach, but the nearest beach to me living right in the middle of florida is at least one hour away. I bumped into this man made beach hidden jewel only 15 minutes away. Located in Clemont, is a very large lake, the city has added swing sets a playground, bbq areas, gazebos tables a basketball court, a boat rental, bike path and a splash pad for the kiddos $2 a person. There is even a group of people that do workouts every morning. Amazing! best place to spend the day with your family

Spent a few hours here. Totally free to enter and free parking. Great lake. Lots of love bugs this time of year though!

Family fun without the long road trip to the beach for folks living west of Orlando. Lake front beach swimming, dog park, extensive trails, pleasant views, water splash play area (requires paid admission), adequate parking (usually), sun or shade depending on location visited, pier, grassy areas. Our "favorite pizza restaurant" where we go to look at the blue water with a "pick up pizza" still hot from the oven.

You could and should go for miles just watching the lake and enjoying the outdoors. Great area to work out or sit on the "beach"

Happened upon the Historic Village of Clermont. Lovely location, on Lake Minneola with a cycling/walking path along side. Very walkable - lots of good shops to meander through and a good selection of spots for a meal or snack. There's also the historic area to explore with knowledgeable tour guides providing the history of the homes and the area. A market happens on Sunday which is looks promising - didn't make it there. A great way to spend a sunny day. Boating and vacation stays are also nearby.

I was here several times, mostly for the festivals that are held here. The parking lot can be small at times, especially when there is a festival, but happily, there are free shuttles that will take you to the grounds. The 4th of July festival was a little crowded.

I'm in Clermont for 2 days so was looking for somewhere nice, accessible and scenic to do my morning constitutional 5 k run, and this trail did not disappoint. It was beautifully maintained and even at 6:30 am it was busy with walkers, runners and cyclists; all friendly and welcoming too. It was quite foggy with minimal views early on, but by the end it was very impressive. My compliments to historic Clermont for this excellent amenity.

Three (3) years ago we moved from the Dr. Phillips area of Orlando to Groveland. It's only about an hour away from the main tourist attractions but what a difference. We have trees, small estates with horses and donkeys, birds, small animals and hills. Every morning when I drive my daughter to her school we start off at the top of a hill and look at the calm beauty of Lake Mineola. Most mornings the sunrises are amazing.
Florida has over 30,000 lakes occupying 3 million acres. Lake county has more than 1,000 named lakes. Lake Mineola is one of the more reasonable size lake here and it touches 3 separate communities. A 2 lane paved road encircles most of the lake and there are places to stop and relax. There is rowing and a boat house and many places to drop your own boat into the water and have fun. This is a stink boat" lake and not a place for sailing. On any given day you will see speedboats, pontoon cruisers, ski doo's and lots of swimming and water skiing. There are a few private beaches and good places to BBQ. While I personally haven't seen any, I am told that EVERY lake in Florida has an alligator or 2 in it. And I am not aware of any alligator attacks on humans.
On the Southern end of the lake you will find the historic community of Clermont. Clermont was founded in 1884 and named for the manager of the Clermont Improvement Company, The city was incorporated in 1916 and the appearance of the downtown district hasn't changed much since. Like most historic districts the services have changed and there are good restaurants, bars, small shops and a really great place called the Orlando Cat Café. This is a great place to come, have a bite of food, play with a bunch of cats and maybe even adopt one of them.
We live on the Northern end where life is much less complicated and relaxed. There are some large homes directly on the lake with beautiful views. Right now a number of them are for sale, but a bit pricy. One of the things I like best is that within the borders of Highway 27, 19 and the southern edge of the lake there are no commercial ventures. No fast food, no gas stations, no 7-11's and no visual blight.
If you are into bilking there always seems to be lots of cyclists, runners and relaxing.
If you are in the area, it's worth the diversion and who knows, you might even want to move here. I did.

Good times are plentiful at around this enormous lake. Plenty to do with play areas, splash pad, and rental spots for kayaks and such. The views are great and there are plenty of places to stroll or ride.
Watch out for the cyclists though!!! They'll zoom right past you, so keep an eye out!!!
If you're looking to kill a few hours of time, head here. Pack a lunch or some snacks because there are lots of tables by the lake for relaxing.
Do it.

We just moved from Wesley Chapel, is this a good place for paddle boarding? Is there a large alligator population?

Most public lake so not have a gator issue as they are well taken cate of and boaters , homes auch remove the soft bed grass and mud slide areas that gators prefer.
But frankly all fresh water in FL has Gators.
WC is far enough west that i dont visit often enough to give you a local lake or river. BUT Homasasas i spelled wrong is part of Crystal River and does have incredible paddle boarding

Lake Minneola Inn on South Main Avenue. Historical Inn that fronts the Tiki Bar which serves the BEST CHEESEBURGER on the Lake! Beautiful sunsets and a close drive to Downtown Clermont. At the corner of 8th and Montrose street you can dine at 8th Street Grill for the "white table cloth" dining experience

It is good that kids swim in the lake. The color of the water is red. And are there alligators?
Written March 12, 2017
Yes , the water is that color from the cypress trees .
