The captains and crew were extremely patient and helpful. It was my first experience and I went very unprepared. Roelf, the First Mate did an incredible job tending to 43 Anglers for 34 hours. The captains were both very supportive and concern that everyone had a good time. Captain Chad was great and fun. He caught , of course, the biggest fish. My neighbor to my right was also very helpful. Even the cook, Mike, was also dedicated in assisting everyone who needed help especially me. It is rough when you do not bring sleeping gear and no rods and reels and to show up 2 minutes before departure time!!!! I highly recommend this charter, which far better than the one I previously tried in John's Pass. I recommend to get better informed on what you need especially you will need special reels and rods designed for very deep fishing. Lots of fish were caught including everyone got their snapper limit.

This was our first time fishing off Florida’s Gulf Coast. We chose the Double Eagle business after speaking with the tour salesman in his booth and decided on the all day trip, as it is a good value. What we didn’t know was that we were talking to the owner, Chad. (It’s a family owned and run business that Chad had grown up in.) He said the deck hand Billy and the cook Mike would make our trip a memorable one.
As it turns out, between Mike and Billy, they had twenty years combined on the Double Eagle boats!
Billy was very busy, first cutting up and dividing the bait and then by putting everyone’s fish on ice. For those who hadn’t fished before, he baited hooks and removed fish from the hooks. When the action was hot and heavy, Mike was out assisting customers, too!
Captain Eric maneuvered the boat just so we had the best chances to catch fish and, boy did we! Almost every minute or two, someone was reeling in a Perch, Porgie or Black Sea Bass. Here and there a Grouper or Hogfish was also reeled up.
The boat was clean and well maintained with benches outside and seating inside for the ride out and back. The restrooms were surprisingly sparkling clean.
I was surprised to learn that were a number of repeat customers on board and I had the pleasure of meeting and fishing next to a retired Polish Naval officer.
On the return to Clearwater Beach, there many lively conversations among new friends and acquaintances.
Once back to the dock, Billy expertly filleted everyone’s catch. We had about 6lbs of fillets for our day’s catch, which will be enough for two meals for us both. Several restaurants on the pier will cook your catch for your dinner!
I’ve written a lot of reviews over the years and call it like it is; if it wasn’t pleasant, you would be reading about it.
My wife and I had such a great experience, we’ll be back from Colorado to go fishing with Double Eagle again!

At first I was a little skeptical of whether there would be any space and even more so concerned about so many people fishing in one spot but in the end it turned out to be one of our family’s most fun experiences. It’s great for families with young children and adults alike. Reasonable prices for beverages and we caught 11 fish which we plan to take to a catch and cook restaurant. We saw dolphins on way out and way in. It took about 1 hour to get out to the spot we ended up fishing on but two hours of fishing for a half day was more than enough. Some groups took home 30+ fish! Overall pleasantly surprised and a definite repeat when we come back! The crew on the bot were super friendly - which made the experience even more memorable!

Good morning
I just went in your boat yesterday for the first time and have to say it was a nice riding , clean and comfortable boat. The young mate that helped and cleaned the fish was awesome , hard and good worker. I would give him a raise lol

Now the bad (sorry)
I was very disappointed that the captain told us that the boat usually can get out there faster but due to the limited amount of people he was told to go slow to conserve fuel which took more time away from us to fish. Costing us atleast a extra 2 hours of drive time.
The man cooking the food was rude, smug looks and not friendly. The food was horrible and a hotdog on regular bread ? Can’t get hotdog buns ? Young kids are like what’s this and threw it away. This is a family boat not a commercial rig.
No other bait like shrimp and or pinfish ? The one guy catching fish brought his own bait.
Yes it was rough out and lots of storms but when everyone is fishing and not catching it’s time to move don’t you think ?
Then the whole crew left the mate to cut fish, clean boat and all the miscellaneous stuff to do ? New guy or not that’s not a team.
Then you spend a hour at the dock cutting up fish that could be done on the slow smooth ride back but just to show people what you caught made your paying costumers wait even longer to go home, and if your using Grunts as your advertisement that’s pretty sad.
I understand the cost of running a boat like that but if your going to give the people on the boat a shortened or a budgeted type of a trip then you should not charge the same. We all paid the same fee either a full boat or not. You win some you lose some. That’s how a business works.

Sorry the way the trip went is not sitting with me right. I was very excited to go on this boat and turned out not so good.

We enjoyed a half fishing trip with Double Eagle today. To say we were novices to fishing and boats would be a tremendous understatement. Capt Dave and his crew, Shaun was our deck hand, was excellent. Shaun was very personable, friendly and patiently took time to explain and show us the proper protocol and techniques. Everyone onboard caught at least a stringer of fish. Shaun cleaned and filleted your catch for 25 cents a fish and recommended a few restaurants that would cook your catch for you. This made for a wonderful and tasty post fishing lunch. Definitely would recommend this operation to all and we look forward to doing another fishing adventure with Double Eagle again.

Booked a half day on 8/8/21.. it was hot as hell but the fishing was good!! Me and my two kids ended up catching a stringer full! Jake the deck hand was great!! He was very friendly/helpful!!. He circled that boat more times than you could count taking fish off and making sure everything was working properly. The snack bar was a great addition to the trip and prices are very reasonable. Would definitely book them again.

Very disappointing experience with this fishing charter company. I even gave them a chance to respond and only received silence from the management. I was booked for a 5hr. trip on Tues. May 26th. This trip was canceled due to a lack of customers, but we weren't notified until AFTER arriving and waiting at the Marina. It was super disappointing to myself and son but, we took it on the chin and agreed to reschedule. They took all my info upon booking, but couldn't have called or emailed to give us a heads up. Little Toot Dolphin tours checked in with me 3 separate times, because of weather, before our trip with them later that week because they understand customer service. We changed our plans and rescheduled for Fri. 5/29. Double Eagle contacted us an hour later to say the Friday trip was canceled because of maintenance on the boat, so again, we changed our plans and rescheduled for Sat. 5/30. We went out on the trip that day and guess how many fish we caught between my son and myself.....ZERO!!! This wasn't our first time fishing either. We barely even received any bites in 5 hours! We caught tons of seaweed off the bottom and that's how we spent most of our time. When we got back to shore, I spoke with the blonde lady at the booking office and told her my story and asked if there was anything they could do to make this bad experience better. She said she couldn't, but took down my story and email and phone number and said one of the owners would contact me about this disappointing experience. Well, it has been 6 days since I left her my info and guess how many times the owners have contacted me? ZERO!!! Just like the same amount of fish we caught. Do not get your hopes up for a great experience or value with Double Eagle Deep Sea Fishing.

This was my first commercial deep sea fishing experience and I went with a great group of friends. We all caught fish and a variety of them. The crew gave great instructions and made sure we had poles and bait before we arrived at the first fishing spot. Most of us had bites within minutes of dropping our first line. The Captain moved the boat twice before heading back in so the fish kept biting.

The mates, Jake and Craig kept circling the boat and handled snags, refilling bait, taking fish off the line and stringing them.

I would have given a 5 but felt the boat needed a little TLC inside with broken chairs and ceiling tiles. However, the overall trip was great and I got what I paid for; fish and a great time with friends.

We have been out with the other head boat in the area before, so we decided to try the Double Eagle on this visit.
We went twice this visit. The first trip we went out was great! Shawn was our mate and he was friendly, helpful and smiled. Had such a great experience, that we booked with them again. Took out freshly cut fish filets and had Salt Cracker Restaurant cook them for us (had enough for two meals there) and they turned out awesome!
The second trip out, was not the same experience. There were two mates, Will and Angela. Angela was friendly, but was mainly at the other end of the boat so our personal experience with her was limited. Will, however, offered zero instruction to the people fishing.. There was a family of SEVEN that didn't even have poles when we got to the fishing spot....after an hour ride out, a mate should have picked up on that. Will did not seem happy to be there at all and barely spoke to any of us.
We had our fish cleaned and took them to Crabby's to try a different spot. When we got our fish, there were so many bones in them we couldn't eat them. This was not the restaurant's fault, this was how the mate fileted the fish.
Wish we would have called ahead and asked if Shawn was going to mate. If we had gone out with Will the first trip, we would have chosen another boat for our second trip.

Great half-day fishing. Price inexpensive. Morning cruise so parking available and covered by fishing fee. No license required. Caught about ten fish apiece - terrific deck hand/assistant - he did everything, including cleaning the fish. One hour out and one hour in. Bathroom typical fishing vessel size but clean and functional. Spacing appropriate for Covid. Small snack bar inexpensive but you can bring your own cooler. I suggest bringing a couple of old towels for keeping hands clean, although deck assistant removed and stringered fish if one so desired. I would use this boat again for a ‘lazy’ morning of fishing.
