Although Sand Key doesn’t have as much going on as the nearby Clearwater Beach, that’s what makes it so good. Parking is easier and costs less. There is also a block containing ladies and gentlemen’s restrooms and changing rooms, between the beach and the car...More
We spent two enjoyable afternoons at Sand Key Park. The park is just south of Clearwater Beach. The beautiful beach was not very crowded compared to Clearwater Beach. Furthermore, the adjacent parking lot is right next to the beach and the $5 parking fee is...More
I visited the beach across the road.A wonderful little beach next to the sailing club which is practically empty.I sat in the oceon and relaxed in the sun in total quiet. The jolley trolley goes past here.
Hubby and I were at Clearwater beach and wondered what was over the bridge we spotted. so we drove across and found sand Key Park. The entrance winds around and then their are several parking lots. $5 for all day. This time we wanted to...More
Looking for ways to entertain my 12 year old boy and 8 year old girl. She's excited about seeing dolphins, finding great seashells, the Clearwater Aquarium, Lowry Park Zoo, and Busch Gardens. He wants to go snorkeling and fishing from a charter boat (their equipment, not ours) and see manatees. A few questions: 1. We're staying at the Marriott on Sand Key. Where would be the best place to take my daughter to collect shells: Sand Key? Clearwater Beach? Caladesi? Someplace else? 2. Do you...More

Sounds like ya'll will have a great time. Sand Key is just over a bridge from Clearwater Beach. It will be a very short drive or trolley ride, but probably too far to walk especially with young ones. I think the Marriott offers a van shuttle from the hotel to the beach on Sand Key, so that will be convenient. 1- Best place to get shells will probably be Caladesi and Honeymoon Island. But without a car and drive, you can check both Sand Key Beach, and as far North on Clearwater Beach as...More
Marco Island or Sand Key ???? (1 Replies)
Hi ! My family is looking to visit Florida May of 2012 and we are not sure where to visit. My Father and Mother in law are in their 50's and like a little beach but would also like some activities and site seeing. My wife, sister in law and myself can lay on the beach or by the pool all day with a cold drink and also like some good restaurants and activities. (Def wanna go Tarpon fishing with a fly) We will also have my daughter who will be 11 months and my 7 year old niece. We are looking to...More

Not sure how they do tarpon fishing here but I don't think it is like fly fishing. And you may have to hire a boat and captain that does fishing tours. For the other requirements try Clearwater Beach. Read that forum to see if it fits.
Sand Key to Aquarium without car (2 Replies)
hello, is it possible to get to the Aquarium without a car, from Sand key? Does the trolley go there, or are taxis readily available? Thanks very much
