I am finding my vistits to CCHR Florida are helping me a lot to understand better what is happening and what should be improved in the area of mental health. I am discovering here are a lot of factual informations that do not seem so easily available or clearly expressed in general in the media. Actually it's helping me to better undertand what has happened also in the past two years. I appreciated very much the fact that I was able to view the video materials at my own pace and by myself. Still when I needed help the staff was supportive and readily available to answer my questions. I do recommend a visit to anyone, is time well spent and useful.

As a mental health advocate I support any organization that supports exposing psychiatric abuse! I believe in transparency and open dialogue to provide individuals with knowledge and options! I have been a part of many zoom calls with CCHR and their advocacy and efforts have been exceptional, providing alternative pharmacists with a plethora of knowledge, to lawyers with compassion, to heartfelt individuals endlessly working toward defending our foster kids and those being forced drugged and taken from their families! This work is so very important and is invaluable! I appreciate their exposure and not to mention kindness and resourceful materials that they offer freely!

Amazed to see the truth about psychiatry and the amount of harm they do to kids as young as 2 years old. These guys should be outlawed immediately.

They helped me in the past with Medical Malpractice by directing me to the correct sources to file complaints, and never once tried to push their Scientologist beliefs on me.

Dear Eileen, I am glad to hear we were able to direct you to correct sources to file complaints.
Our purpose is really to help victims of human rights abuses in the field of mental and ensure that this do not occur for other families and citizens of the state of Florida.
As a non-profit, non-religious and non-political organization and especially due to the personal and legal aspect of our services for victims of abuses, we do not get into religion at all. Our staff and volunteers do not have the same religious belief and that is fine. We bind together, no matter what religious background, to help and support anyone harmed by abusive practices in the field of mental health.
The Church of Scientology sponsors us and support our mission as much as our 3,000 CCHR members spread around the state that are coming from all sorts of denomination and occupation and we are very grateful for all of their support.

The tour was very revealing and a must see for people who treasure the mental health of their family and friends. The tour is very in depth and reveals the source of racism, the Holocaust and how the very same elements are among us today - hidden right in front of our eyes. Psychiatry subverts religion, families, artists and even the military!
I'd like to thank them for educating me about the disturbing truth of Psychiatry and for standing up for the rights of the most vulnerable. A definite must see!

I have been a RN for over 40 years. I am an ADMIN. in the Facebook Group
"PARENTS AGAINST MIRALAX" with over 50,000 members. CCHR has assisted me repeatedly when we have children Baker Acted without parental consent in the state of FL. I have to say each time a parent from Florida has cried out in desperation CCHR was able to direct, refer or intervene to return the child usually suffering from a 'substance induced toxic psychosis' from Miralax to the safety of the home environment where they were able to recover under the care of their loving parents. Our fight continues to disseminate critical information about Miralax. We want you to know (PEG) polyethylene glycol is also a component of some of the most recent 'experimental drugs' released to the public and it is in approximately 80% of all prescription drugs. Cumulative kidney damage and POSSIBLE NEUROPSYCHIATRIC EVENTS are concerns and warnings from the FDA have been issued.

I had a very bad experience with a psychiatrist here in Southwest Florida. I only went in for initial meeting in to get my meds filled. Before I knew it the nurse practitioner who met me once and spent 10 minutes with me baker acted me for no apparent reason. I don’t want anybody to ever go through what I went through. The citizens for human rights helped me immensely and gave me Resources I needed to contact a lawyer in the Florida Department of mental health. They are an excellent organization and stood by me every step of the way.

The Citizens Commission of Human Rights (CCHR) is an international nonprofit organization that was co-founded in 1969 by the Church of Scientology and Dr. Thomas Szasz, a psychiatrist from my hometown of Syracuse, NY.
For over 20 years I have been involved in mental health advocacy and I greatly value CCHR's mission as a "mental health watchdog" that is "dedicated to eradicating psychiatric abuses and ensuring patient protection".
I feel fortunate to live near Clearwater, Florida and have been involved with CCHR Florida since moving here 15 years ago. I have attended numerous events hosted by CCHR and have benefitted greatly from information shared. Material produced by CCHR was instrumental in advocating for a family member who suffered terribly as a result of prolonged treatment in a NYS mental health facility.
When the Clearwater museum first opened, I spent four hours touring it.
What came to my mind was Mahatma Gandhi's quote "the true measure of any society can be found in how it treats its most vulnerable"
And this is why it is not an easy museum to tour because it provides a clear and accurate depiction of how our society's most vulnerable, stigmatized, marginalized and discriminated against population has historically been treated.
There is no hidden agenda here, just the truth, a truth that is hard for most to handle but is a must to comprehend for those seeking to truly reform our broken mental health care system.
Every time I visit Clearwater Beach, I try to spend time touring the museum again as it helps serve as a reminder the importance of advocating for those who are less fortunate.
I highly recommend touring CCHR's museum to members of NAMI, all those involved in mental health advocacy, mental health care, attorneys involved in mental health law, our lawmakers, justices, educators, parents/guardians and history buffs.
We can no longer turn a blind eye.

This tells you one side of the story, the other side needs to be explored also to hold an informed opinion and without this you do yourself and your relatives a large disservice.

Dear James,
I actually appreciate that you bring that point up. Anyone coming to tour the Industry of Death Museum should keep in mind their own experience and knowledge about mental health treatment. I encourage anyone to keep a critical point of view when starting to tour the 14 panels displays museum we have in Downtown Clearwater.
Many psychiatrists, psychologists, nursing instructors and students visited our Museum and asked an array of question and comments in regards to what they just saw. The principal feedback I heard was that they were graceful to be able to listen and see a different "side" on the history of psychiatry.
The fact is that the Industry of Death Museum was put this way so anyone can be aware of certain abusive practices that occurred in the field of mental health, some of which are still happening. Hundreds of doctors, lawyers, investigative reporters, authors, psychiatrists and professors were interviewed on the subject and featured in the videos we display in the Museum.
Thank you for your comment.
