Coconut KC did not exhibit or provide any of these things on my family’s recent kayaking experience.

From the moment he picked us up, KC was ornery and unprofessional.

Upon arriving at the launch site nearly an hour from our hotel, KC began complaining about us not jumping to help him take down his boats. Luckily, 3 strapping young men in our party made that possible, but it was the first in a series of episodes that showed KC was not only unwilling, but almost incapable of doing the job on his own.

Once we launched, we were taken on what seemed like a 5-mile route with absolutely zero direction from KC, both at the outset and throughout our journey. There was never any indication from KC of where we were going. No attempt to take breaks together. Any time we needed to take a break seemed like a massive inconvenience for him, as if he himself was rowing through this lively Tampa body of water with the greatest of ease like a trained Olympian and not wilting in the hot sun like the rest of us. And this was all done largely with the current and waves from various water craft working against us the entire time, despite assurances from our fearless caption that the tide would eventually be on our side.

Bottom line? This overly challenging, direction-less route—one clearly not fit for our family nor any other group in search of a leisure activity—was only compounded by KC’s bad attitude and overall demeanor. Row at your own risk.

I am confused... first I am nearly incapable of unloading a 37lb kayak myself. But then I padde with the speed and ease of a trained Olympian? It really can't be both. At least try and make your lies, knife jabs, foot stomps, and fairy tales believable. Lowering my score here does not improve yours. People are not as stupid as you think.

We cannot say enough great things about Coconut Kayak and KC! I truly didn’t know how things would go with two older children and two younger children who had never kayaked before. It ended up being the highlight of our vacation. We found Coconut Kayak because we were searching how to swim with/find manatees. One of our kids is in love with manatees and supports their rescue efforts. KC made no promises that we would see them but still promised we would have a great trip.

KC picked us up at our rental and had drinks packed and everything ready to go. The drive was long for kids so he was prepared and even had activity and coloring books to keep them occupied. When we arrived he made sure the kids knew how to get around and all were comfortable. He took us to the best spots and the kids had a blast.

When it was over one of our sons cried because we never found any manatees. He was devastated. As we were beginning to pack up, the manatees were spotted nearby. We asked KC if we could go back in and he didn’t hesitate and got us all back in the water so we could see them. Even though it was the end of a long day, he knew how much it would mean to our son. The smile on our sons face was priceless. He spent almost an extra hour there to make sure our son had that moment and as a mom that meant the world.

I would highly recommend Coconut Kayak tours, you won’t be disappointed!! KC truly made this an adventure of a lifetime for our kids. He went out of his way for our family and we appreciate it so much!

Thanks for the kind words. Your family visited our #1 Beach in June... Not exactly Manatee season. Officially Jan 1 to March 31st. In April the Manatees have left the springs and springfed rivers for the open Gulf. They are cold water driven. I can never guarantee wild animals. Especially ones that have been returned to the Endangered Species Status. Fewer then 5,000 manatees remain. Florida has 1,350 miles of coastline. The Gulf is bigger then Texas and the manatees could be anywhere. You do the math on the odds. I am working on the instant teleportation machine to beam the whole Family from your hotel to the kayak launch. Until I can put Elon Musk , GM, Toyota, Honda etc out of biz....driving is the only way unfortunately. I wish I could move the National Wildlife Refuge next to Clwarwater Beach...but billions in development along our beautiful coastline prevent it. We do have to get out of the most densely populated and developed county in Florida...Pinellas. To get to the woods where the animals live. Otherwise we will be kayaking behind peoples homes thru seawalled canals. Of course we never ever give up because sometimes the magic moments come at the end. Happy on this day your son got to swim with the manatees. Nice well behaved children BTW. Next time we can go find some alligators, or perhaps monkeys. Yes...we have wild monkeys all over Florida.

We had a fantastic trip with KC! We weren’t sure how it would go with a 9 year old girl and 11 year old boy that had never kayaked before, but KC was so patient and wonderful with the kids! He taught them the proper way to paddle and turn around. The kids had an absolute blast on the river and we will definitely be doing this again!!

Thanks for the kind words. I have to give credit to Perception Kayaks however. The High 5 kids size kayak is a SUP/kayak hybrid. Made in Greenville SC USA - Perception ( Confluence Outdoor) actually gifted me this kayak for the kids. I have since bought a 2nd one. Without exception all the kids that have used it do very well on it - due to its design. We always get further with encouragement and compliments then criticism and scolding. The whole point is that the kids have fun.... it does not really matter if they are holding the paddle upside down - its okay. We can work on it later.... you don't want to get the kid frustrated and yell - your not doing it right! Then it becomes no fun. It also helps when the kids ( Yours) are well behaved and polite. Was my pleasure. Hope you had such a wonderful family vacation on our Trip Advisors choice for #1 beach 2 years in a row - that you will return and book another kayak trip for you and the children. Thank You, KC

I have traveled to Clearwater Beach & surrounding area for 40 years & found KC at CKTours looking for a unique experience, rather than just another kayak rental. KC doesn't disappoint! He picked us up from the hotel timely. His equipment and safety gear were quite appropriate. We kayaked off the beaten path. Saw egrets, an assortment of other birds, a stingray, and he hunted for manatees, out of season until he found them. What a blast! He is a lifetime Clearwater resident and could elaborate on area history that I remembered. Wonderful experience and I will contact him again.

This was an afternoon we won’t soon forget! My wife called KC super last minute and as luck would have it he very recently had a cancellation and was able to fit us into his busy spring break schedule. After multiple close dolphin encounters and a journey down a mangrove trail my family was left with lots of smiles (to go along with sore shoulders!). KC had everything accounted for: snacks, drinks, ice, sunscreen, water guns, dry bags, etc. One could tell after talking with him for a few minutes that he truly loves what he does and enthusiastically shares his knowledge of the wildlife, kayaking and tidbits about his hometown. KC understood our needs and wants and catered our trip to fit while showing flexibility along the way.

Booked a trip with this guy for a bachelorette weekend and had the worst experience possible. My 9 month old has better manners and people skills. He was almost 45 minutes late picking us up. He forgot one of the kayaks on his van and blamed us for it. He treated us like we were completely incompetent the entire time and insulted multiple members of our group. We decided to cut the trip short because we we were all so fed up with him.

You could of at least wrote a more believable fake -1 star review. How stupid do you think people are that they can't see it for what it is. Lies. Malicious, unethical, jealous, competitor who foolishly believes tarnishing my character...and service. I forgot a kayak? Lol....silly fraudster, I have a 6 rack kayak trailer that holds 6 kayaks. 1 ....mine...is on the van Tulhe roof rack. 7.... by coincidence??? I have a 7 passenger van. Since I always get to go... that leaves room for 6 in the van.....for the six rack of kayaks...duh! It is impossible for me to " forget" a kayak ! It always has 6! Lies....lies and more lies....

I'll accept some of the responsibility for the problems during our trip. I should have researched things more. And, although KC was able to fit us in last minute it was for a full day excursion which I should have realized was too much for my son. Although I shared my son was autistic he was expected to deal with things as anyone would. Unfortunately, I didn't insist we be left behind when I realized my son was escalating. It wasn't until he was in tears that KC allowed us to remain and he continued on with the rest of the group. Fortunately while they continued on my son was able to de-escalate and by the time the group returned he was back in the kayak and practicing his maneuvers. KC dealt great with the others in the group and was very knowledgeable. However, I don't think he has the temperament or patience to deal with special needs guests (not everyone can). I would encourage those wanting to kayak to check out Coconut Kayak tours. However, if you have anyone with special needs or who may have difficulty with athleticism perhaps additional research would afford you a more enjoyable outing.

Your fault - you set me and your son up for "failure" then write a poor review? This review also come in - your son. Anyone that can not stand up from a sitting position under their own power - will not be allowed to kayak going forward. Manatee King Homosassa Local Guide·13 reviews·9 photos 4 days agoNEW I didn't use the service but I observed the guide with a special needs child and his mother...as a former Coast Guardsman who served at several rescue stations around the country, Safety is my main focus.....he really was exceptional from pointing out tricky spots to helping the young man...the guy was really good..I'm glad there are knowledgeable people out there guiding... 1

Exceptional Day Kayaking the Chassahowitzka River area. Coconut Kayak Tours can be counted on to deliver the experience you specifically request. KC, the owner and tour guide, truly does arrange the experience, as much as possible, to your expectations. My wife and i were picked up at our rental, transported by KC, and provided with kayaks to spend four hours with KC paddling an amazing wildlife area. KC knows the natural areas he tours in and provides information about the habitat and the creatures encountered during the tour. We observed over fifty manatees, many birds, fish and other assorted critters. That was our expectation: KC delivered in a five star way!!!

My wife, son and I booked a Coconut Kayak tour and didn't really know what to expect....and ended up having one of the most amazing and memorable experiences of our life! (and we do a lot)

KC, the guide, picked us up at the hotel and drove us to a beautiful location. He taught everyone the basics of what to do, make sure we all had life jackets, packed up snacks and drinks for all of us, and we were on our way.

We had heard about manatees and we might see them, but we were mind-blown when we kayaked through an area that was FULL of them. They would follow us, swim up to us, and they were right there with us. It made me so happy to see my wife and son in awe of these amazing animals right there with us.

We continued on our tour to a natural spring area where we could rope swing into the water. Then out in to more open waters where dolphins were swimming within feet of our kayaks. Then up another waterway fill with manatees, and ending at a restaurant where we all shared food and drinks.

Then entire time KC, our guide, was fun and funny. We all loved him. He provided a Go-Pro for us to film our day and gave us the SD card at the end of the day to take with us. It was a wild day. An amazing day. May not be for everyone...you need to be open to adventure, have an open mind, and be ready to just chill and have fun. And be ready to paddle, it is a kayak tour after all. But if you go with it, just have fun, KC will make sure you have an amazing adventure. It was easily the highlight of our trip to Florida, and we have talked and laughed about it ever since. We are planning to go back to Florida again in March 2022 and will definitely book another tour with KC and Coconut Kayak Tours!

We had one day to spend in Clearwater. I booked a full day with this guide. We discussed the trip, pick up, and spoke several days before to clarify details. On the morning of pick up we sat on the curb at our hotel for 45 minutes awaiting his arrival. He never showed up or called. I tried calling repeatedly but there was no answer. We were left scrambling to find an activity for that day. All the other kayak tours were already full at that point. We had planned our trip to Clearwater around this activity and were very disappointed. We have booked our own excursions around the world and this was our first complete no show. I would not recommend booking with this guide.

You never had a reservation. You probably never even called. By your own fairytale...SEVERAL DAYS BEFORE...you discussed all this... then never called the day before or morning of? You just sat on your mythical curb for 45 minutes? I just left $425. Sitting on the curb? I think not. I think your whole fabrication of lies is malicious and intends to make me seem unreliable, to put doubt in gullible people's minds. Seems the other 90% 5 star reviews tell quite a different tale. THE TRUTH. By your own testimony you never went kayaking with me. No reservation. No pickup.
