About
The main draw of this sun-soaked beach is its wide shoreline, small-town atmosphere, plus its inviting turquoise waters. The beach has excellent conditions for parasailing, jet skiing, and snorkeling. And after sunset, watch the street performers put up awe-inspiring acts. If you’re visiting as a family, don’t miss the Clearwater Marine Aquarium and Pier 60—a brilliant sunset-watching spot. Fitness enthusiasts will also appreciate the nearby nature trails at Honeymoon Island State Park or Caladesi Island State Park. The best way to reach Clearwater Beach is via the Jolley Trolley, which stops at Pier 60 on its South Beach route. – Tripadvisor

    Lovely beach
The most soft, warm sand with clear warm waters that stretch for miles… just the perfect beach retreat. Expensive parking…. Hotels are generally well located and good choices of restaurant options

great beach beautiful light blue waters
Beautiful beach, very wide. Lots of space, but fairly busy and party crowd. We had a wonderful time enjoying the beach and the gulf water. Parking is REAL expensive so looks around. The day at the beach was wonderful and packed with people having great times. we will return

    Beautiful white sand!
A little busier than the more southern beaches, but spend a day for sure! Not great for little kids but tons to do around the marina and the beach is pristine. Great restaurants! Love this side of the state!

One of the best Beaches of Florida
Water is blue and sand is powdery white and soft… one of the best beaches …kids were busy playing in sand, we had to pull them out of the beach and drag back… quite good experience.. the softest white sand I had ever seen with great water that was calm ….the only thing that pinched was that we got so engrossed at the beach that we forgot to enhance time of our parking ticket... I will give more marks to this beach than Miami Beach. It is surely a stop not to be missed and highly recommended for anyone visiting Florida.

    Softest sand ever!
The most softest, whitest sand you will ever feel between your toes - sublime, like baby powder! A beautiful wide& long beach with crystal clear water. Too chilly for me to swim in at this time of year & only there for a day/night stop on our Florida road trip but a wonderful beach to walk upon.

Gorgeous white sand beach. Lots to do nearby.
This is a world class white sand beach. Really long and wide plenty of space even if it’s crowded. There’s lots to do just a few minutes from the beach, including pier 60, shops, restaurants, etc. The traffic getting there is not great, as there’s only one way in Clearwater Beach, and parking can be hard to find. That said, this is a really great place to vacation. Just big enough to have things to do, small enough that it’s not overrun. Unfortunately, things in Clearwater have gotten very expensive, including food, and especially things like jet, skis, kayaks, and parasailing. The best thing is the amazing sunset over the gulf waters!

Stayed at the Gulfview, which is very good, staff is friendly, location excellent. Only thing is the place is a little old, but who stays in their room?? Pool and hot tub is a bonus. Blinkers steak house was FANTASTIC! Food was ahhh amazing, all the staff was friendly and personable.( Btw it's not a beach Clear Sky Cafe is rated as #1 for brunch for a good reason- highly recommended!!

    Beautiful Beach!
My husband and I went to Clearwater Beach for a few. Unfortunately, we forgot it was spring break and found it to be extremely crowded. The beach is beautiful and the water is clear. The parking is very limited especially for the handicapped. We will go back making sure it’s not spring break!

Must experience. The all you can eat buffet was awesome and good. The all you can drink bar was amazing. I really liked the mixed drink. My first one I thought was weak. After having two I realized it snuck up on me like a ghost. This was an amazing boat ride.

    Our New Favorite Beach
This beach has something for everyone. We came for spring break and despite the water still being too chilly for most of our group no one was ever bored. There are so many shells, sand-dollars come in by the 100’s in the evenings. We walked to the end of the beach and found untouched beach with mangroves. The sunsets are incredible. We were able to snorkel on a couple calm days right off of the beach. We saw lots of dolphins. We definitely plan to come back when the water is warmer.

The actual soft white beach itself is beautiful but overcrowded, the sunset is always spectacular. However the businesses and City Fathers have turned paradise into a tourist trap of traffic clogged streets, price gouging restaurants & businesses that think a visitor is some one that needs the last dollar squeezed out of his pockets, There is too much traffic on the narrow streets and grossly inadequate parking. I had to park miles from the restaurant! The public beach lot is expensive &was full. There was a time when you could drive around and find a spot on the street but now no spot is free. If you park on a public street you must enter a credit card in a computer cash box. They are charging valet rates for a car left on the street! I finally found an unattended private lot that had no prices posted and was charged $50 for a lot with no security! It's cheaper to park in Manhattan. I walked around with a knot in my stomach wondering if my car would still be there. The restaurants were all overcrowded with long waits. It was hard to even find an affordable eatery that didn't rush you in and out. I chose Crabby's by default. It was overpriced and was like eating in a parking garage. A far cry from the old Crabby bills that used to be there.. You can only walk halfway out on the pier without paying a fee for the privilege of walking the rest of the way. I have a snowbird condo in the area and I used to love Clearwater but there are more beautiful beaches in the area: Caladesi and Honeymoon Island and I don't enjoy getting fleeced. I won't be back.

Clearwater is a lovely area and calm water with alot of hotels lining a nice boardwalk filled with restaurants and shops. There are lounge chairs and umbrellas to rent on the beach ($30) but it is definitely a very crowded vibe. There are a lot of day trippers which makes it a very crowded beach. Loves crabbys dockside restaurant by marina and encounters with dolphins boat tour.

Clearwater Beach is another beautiful Gulf Coast Beach. Lots of shopping and restaurants. Family friendly as well. Inflatables near the pier are perfect for kiddos. $35 for an all day pass the kids had a great time jumping, and sliding…swimming in the ocean and playing on the shaded playground. Also, sunsets on Pier 60 bring in local artisans selling some great unique items at fair prices. We truly loved it. The reason I give Clearwater 4 stars instead of 5 though is due to the amount of litter on the beach. I’ve been to Ocean City, VA Beach and Myrtle…and this is the dirtiest beach I’ve ever been to. It’s really sad. People just pack up at the end of the day and leave behind all their trash. Plastic cups, bottles, diapers, and beer cans. Unreal that people are that nasty and lazy they can’t even pick up their own trash when they go. Other than that Clearwater Beach truly is awesome and gorgeous. And a lot of fun! Clean up your trash people!

We came to Clearwater Beach to get out of the snow on a recommendation from a friend. So glad we did. The sand is powder soft, water is warm (even in March), and the beach cabanas are reasonably priced (I highly recommend renting one for the day). The beach was pretty crowded, however there was still lots of room to walk, play, and relax. Stick around for the sunsets, they are amazing!!

Be careful watch out for local homeless drunk people and all of the local bars and restaurants locals and they seem to be displeased with all of the high-end / out-of-towners who come to their town just to hang out for a few days or a week I noticed a slight attitude problem with cashier bartender and server industry. I personally am an Uber driver and have worked in many fields in my life that require me to please the crowd and try to be hospitable and apparently the people who are here are accustomed to showing their true colors. I am from Indiana and Indiana you are allowed to open carry but not in FL I think it might help the situation though.

This is a beautiful beach and there is so much to do. The beach goes on for a long time. We were at the part of the beach that was pretty close to the beach slide and the playground. There is also a restroom here. There are plenty of shops and restaurants around if you get tired (or too hot) of walking around. Pay parking located nearby.

A great play to swim, skimboard, look at shells, run or just walk on the beach. We spent a few hours at this spot and had a great time. Everyone had a chance to get out and about. You can rent little cabanas for some shade for $35 which can be helpful.

Warning though - there are aggressive seabirds wanting to snatch your food, so I would not bring snacks to this beach. One took food out of the little ones' (11 yr old) mouth. In watching others, I doubt ours was an isolated incident.

You will not come here to get away from people as there are plenty of people here (although you can have your own space). Bring some hats, towels and some water to drink and spend part of your day here.

We were in Clearwater for 3 nights and planned one full day on the beach. I delayed it because of mostly cloudy days early but unfortunately our only clear day was super windy. Be careful about the beach on a windy day. We had rented a cabana & chairs for $40 k even though it cut down some on the sand blowing into our faces, the wind must change directions frequently because we were sandblasted quite a few times. We did enjoy watching people chase their umbrellas down the beach @ the multiple attempts to keep beach huts or tents secured before they gave up. We only lasted a hour, then took off for a day in Tarpon Springs.

Beautiful beach, the expected warm gulf and clear water and luxurious soft sand. The beach on Saturday or Sunday was extremely populated. The little beach front street is very touristy with many shop and food options. Lunch, Blackened Grouper at Clear Sky Restaurant was delightful and then later some Italian gelato was a treat. We did find during the week we enjoyed the equally beautiful, less crowded Treasure Island Beach less populated and more relaxing.

Thanks to Southwest Airlines, our flight on 29 Dec 22 was cancelled, thus we didn't travel to Clearwater. We had a non-refundable New Year's Eve dinner cruise booked on Starlite Cruises, a reservation at the Wyndam Hotel and a rental car with Budget.
As soon as I knew we weren't going to going I began canceling reservations. Through texting I was able to let Wyndam know about the situation, and a kind rep took care of canceling our reservation. Fortunately we still safe from paying a penalty, but I appreciated the customer service I received from them. I cancelled the rental on line, knowing I would have a $50 cancelation fee on my pre-paid car. I was pleasantly surprised to see my payment, minus $50 promptly refunded to my account, as well a subsequent refund of the $50!! So nothing lost there.
Finally, Starlite Cruises. I had emailed them to cancel, so our spots could be used by someone else. Was aware of the no refund policy, but explained why we had to cancel. The next day I received a call from a very nice woman. She told me my $440 was going to be refunded! I was so thankful, as that's a significant amount of money to lose. I will absolutely give all three agencies my business when we reschedule a trip to Clearwater.
As for Southwest, they have reached out to refund tickets and give bonus points. They really screwed up, it was the perfect storm, but I'll still fly with them. Look forward to visiting when my husband gets past knee surgery!

Did any of you do your research? The beach is always busy, and April with Spring break is going to be busy. Clearwater Beach has been voted best beach in Florida numerous time, so it stands to reason it will be busy. We have been coming to Clearwater Beach since 1979, and it busy, but the beach is huge and easily accommodates the many visitors.
We first stayed at the Spyglass Hotel, and then at the Hilton. Recent years have seen the Opal Sands and the Wyndham Grand, both excellent choices, and the Wyndham comes with two beach chairs and an umbrella, but get them early because they go quick. Remember, don’t be fooled by hotels saying they are on Clearwater Beach, because many are in Clearwater Beach but aren’t on the beach.
No boardwalk, so what, the entire length of Clearwater Beach is a boardwalk along with Pier 60.
Once at your hotel, you really never need to drive anywhere because everything you’ll need is within walking distance. Instead of renting chairs, buy them at one of the stores along Mandalay road, and save the money of daily rental fees.
Everyone needs to understand, if you don’t like people, then stay home at your pool.
It’s a vacation so stop worrying about the little things, and enjoy one of the top beaches in the United States.
I’m sorry many found the beaches to crowded and driving your care was stressful, but Clearwater Beach is a destination to enjoy, and not a stopping point to travel from while you enjoy other places. If that’s what you are looking for, then you’re right. Clearwater Beach is not for you.
