Amazing Place! Must do!
Jun 2021
Wow! Really cool place. It isn't as clear and pale blue as neighboring Fanning Springs, but it had so much more atmosphere and things to do that we drove here both days (20 min drive) instead of staying at Fanning which was 2 min from our VRBO. Now, there are snakes around the swimming hole. But they were non-poisonous and non aggressive. They swam across the water a couple of times, but as long as you weren't walking on the bank around the spring they weren't highly visible. There was one on the stairs grate the first day heading into the springs, but everyone just stayed off it until he swam to the trees and sunbathed. Also, there are several little alligators over the rope line that "blocks off" the swim area. We knew this from the River Walk and from our canoe adventure over there. But they were shy, 2 feet at most, and were "cute". Now, on our canoe trip, around the bend towards the main lake, we did see one 7 footer on a log, but that was a ways away from the swimming hole, and we got too close and spooked him I guess and he swam away. In other words, he wasn't "looking for human prey". By the way, the $25 canoe rental was one of my highlights of the trip. Totally worth it. Only $6 to enter, and the river walk on wooden bridge was so charming! The hike had a lot of horse flies so we didn't do it. For some reason, the water wasn't as cold here as the other springs. Do not waste your time going to Otter Springs. If you want clearer less snaky water, try Fanning Springs state park, but there isn't a lot to do, and it was cold!

Beautiful springs
May 2021
The grounds are wooded and cool. Plenty of places to hang out and bring some chairs to relax. Bathrooms are clean and convenient. The springs are beautiful and refreshing.

OK for a quick stop, no manatees, wouldn't recommend campground
Jan 2021
I booked the campground not knowing there was no cell signal. I sometimes work remotely and really needed the connection. It's my fault for not looking into it. So I do not recommend it if you need to be able to use your phone.

One of the first things I was told upon check in was that there weren't many manatees and if I did want a chance at seeing them I'd need to head over to the water at 8 am or they'd be gone. This was the main reason I booked here so that was disappointing. We didn't see any during our stay. The snack shack was out of everything except hot dogs (which they microwave) and pulled pork. And everything is just reheated to order. Magnolia 1 spots have sewer which is something to keep in mind if booking a long stay. We stayed in the park in 3 different spots over 4 days in both magnolia 1 and 2. The spots themselves are decent. There's 8 miles of trails in the park but there's nothing else to do in the area. I wouldn't stay here again.

Nice little camping spot
Jan 2021 • Family
We stayed as a family of 6 (on one site) in the middle of January 2021. The springs were great. We saw a manatee and TONS of other wildlife. It was fairly busy but not too loud. The bathrooms were ok. There were multiple toilets & showers but they could be updated a little. There is a washing sink outside for dishes as well. The sites are fairly private and decently sized. The staff was friendly and we had a great stay.

Nice Park
Jan 2021
Saw 5 manatees when I visited. The boardwalk is cool and they have plenty of trails to go hiking on. Renting a kayak was really cheap and worth it.

Great Manatee Viewing
Dec 2020
I camped there one night on 12/13/21. I got there at 3 PM set camp walked around to have a look not expecting to see any manatees yet. Saw several (10+) where the spring feeder connects to the river !!! Only a few were close. I waded in the stream to check temp and it was TOO COLD for this old guy !!!. The next morning there were 5 about 15 feet away from where I had been wading !!!!! I got great pics and videos ....... still too cold for me but had a ball watching them.

The park itself is beautiful too. First time I've been away from the beaches in FL. I will be back but with grandkids next time !!!

Great camping
Nov 2020 • Friends
The main springs were beautiful and the spring run out to the river was beautiful. The boardwalk follows the spring run out to the river where we saw a few manatees nibbling on vegetation. Camping was a convenient walk away. Would come back again.

one of the many springs that feed into the Suwannee River, you can see through the crystal clear water, don't miss the opportunity to swim, although the temp is 72 year round. The boardwalks take you through the cypress trees and out towards the main river. There are picnic tables, restrooms, a concession stand. A great way to spend some quiet time, family time, or time with a loved one.

It’s okay
Sep 2020 • Family
We have visited much more exciting springs than this one. The water was full of Algae and a little murky. It was a one time deal for our family!

Canoe fun!
Sep 2020 • Couples
We rented a canoe for 2 hrs. It was 25 dollars. The water is beautiful. One side is flat when you walk in the water. The other has rocks. There are nice campgrounds here and walking trails. It is 6 dollars a car.
