There were many places along our ride through the forest that had recently had a fire, as hundreds of trees were blackened from 5' on down to the base. Didn't know if it was accidental or what. We did see a couple of gators in...More

It is a great place to both drive around and do some gentle hiking. We saw a lot of wildlife and birds, only one other car. The bugs were not bad at all in March, do not let it discourage you.

Taking the nature drive, we saw armadillos, Great Blues, Great Egrets, and deer. Tip: get out at the boardwalk to the pond. It looks like the kind of place you'd expect to find Walden.

We pretty much stumbled onto this area and were not disappointed. Plenty of parking and a bathroom, which is always a plus.

FL the way it was before all the housing developement and golf courses. The drive transverses the Hammocks, the swamps and the wildlife (that hide well, I might add). And a hint, don't believe your Garmin...FOLLOW THE SIGNS.
