This is a raised boardwalk walk through nature (about 1.7 miles if you walk out to all the piers) which is pretty but there is really not much to see. If you are just looking for a way to stretch your legs, that works, but not much of an activity. There is only a map on one entrance to the path (which we found at the end and then realized that part of the path is currently closed when we looked at it because we hit dead ends) so we were walking without knowing what there was and not much online.
The (rental) kayaking is the real appeal but it is only on weekends but seems super fun and different as you seem to go through the mangroves. You can brign your own though. If you are looking for a similarly simple walk though nature with more animals and lookout points, I would recommend the Six Mile Cypress Slough nearby in Fort Myers.

The first thing you notice is the calm and peace that settles over you. Then the scent of natural perfume followed by...feel it....your body relaxing.
Regardless of the the heat outside the canopy it is cool and welcoming beneath it.
Free.
Wheelchair accessible with benches interspersed it will bring you to small windows to the Caloosahatchee River.
It’s a hidden oasis.
Go. Find it.

We stayed just minutes away and enjoyed coming back at different times and in different weather to walk along the boardwalks through the mangrove swamp marveling at the wildlife that seemed to change each time. Even in the heat, much of the boardwalk trails were cool with the shade and occasional breeze. Very few other visitors each time so it felt quiet and peaceful strolling through and watching for birds, lizards, fish, insects, and crabs going about their lives in their home. Would love to come back and kayak about the preserve as well.

There is a nice nature center. We visited her in early January, so heat and bugs weren't a problem. We thoroughly enjoyed our walk on the elevated boardwalk. You essentially walk through a tunnel mangrove trees. The shade would be blessing in the summer, I'm sure.

We come to walk here quite often, and it is a great place to walk. We walk the entire walkway, but when we get to the big dock, we walk back on the boardwalk. It is shady and thus cooler for a later morning walk. This is not a dog-walk, nor a jogging place, and no bicycles are allowed. One of the best walking paths in this city!

This is a boardwalk through a mangrove swamp. There are 2 spurs that go out to the water. Total length if you walk to the end of both spurs is 1.7 miles. If you just do the loop without the spurs it is 1.2 miles. It smells like rotting vegetation and fish the whole way. We expected more walking. If you want a view of the water, there are plenty of piers and parks with equal or better views.

Nice boardwalk in the cool of the mangrove trees with a couple of water view piers. I especially enjoyed the military memorials. I thought I’d get my miles in but the trail itself is not 4 miles. I clocked in about 1.7.

We saw zero wildlife. Not even a bird. It’s more than a mile if you go all the way to the pond. There’s 2 water overlooks but not that exciting. Noise from the highway ruins the natural beauty of the surroundings. It’s mostly shaded so wasn’t too hot. There is a visitors center with a map & bathrooms.

Nice shaded walkway. Nice for an early morning summer walk. We only walked part of the trails on our visit. Plan to go back and do some more another time. Walkways were well taken care of and we saw lots of wildlife.

What a perfect walk on a cool day. The monuments were beautiful. The walking path brought us to the two beautiful cove. The mangroves were interesting and one sign explained why some of them had knots. We didn’t see much wildlife but this was a perfect day to walk outside, meet others along the way enjoying a walk as well.

cannot bring a dog - its a wooden boardwalk and can get busy if a lot of people are walking that day
