MORE THAN 155 YEARS AGO BEFORE THE PORT . BEFORE THE MISSILES BEFORE THE ROCKET LAUNCHES CAPE CANAVERAL LIGHTHOUSE & SPACE FORCE STATION TOURS The amazing & historic 151 foot tall lighthouse is still active after more than 155 years protecting our mariners & coast. It has evolved from oil lamp, to automation, to electricity over the years & still continues to serve. Since it sits on Cape Canaveral Space Force Station (CCSFS) property, the public is not allowed to drive on site without an escort, therefore all visits must be booked several days in advance. Please visit our website to book your tours. Once you get here, you'll get to explore the Historical Lighthouse, Keepers Cottage & grounds, and visit Hangar C, where you’ll see restored launch systems & rockets, some of which can only be seen here. Lastly, you’ll get to tour the Cape Canaveral Space Force Museum & visit our great little Gift Shop! LAT: 28.46037 LONG: -80.543422 151 FT TALL DAYMARK: 3 BLACK & 3 WHITE HORIZONTAL BANDS

We went up the lighthouse and went into the oil house before touring the keepers cottage and the gift shop. The issue is you need a tour to get out there. But if you visit canaverallight.org you will see free and commercial ways to experience this wonderful lighthouse steeped in history and space.Thank you for visiting us and for taking the time to review our little Lighthouse. I'm happy you were able to see our variety of historical exhibits about Cape Canaveral, the lighthouse, and space exploration! You are correct about planning ahead, although it is quite easy to book. Not only did I enjoy the AMAZING lighthouse but the foundation has replica cottages that try to bring you back to a simpler and slower paced time and the museum is amazing as well with the actual items they would have used. WELL DONE, Thank you,Thank you for your review and your visit! We're happy that you appreciated our work thus far in bringing "you back to a simpler and slower paced time". We have only completed Phase 1 and are in the process of planning and fundraising for Phase 2 and Phase 3, which will include more buildings and activities to enjoy. After checking the website, I knew we didn't have time for the four hour tour, so I thought we would just view it, even from afar, and take a look at it when we were at the Exploration Tower. However, we were informed at the Exploration Tower that the only way to see the Lighthouse is to purchase the ticket to tour and it cannot be seen, even from the top of the Tower. So, we were a little disappointed we didn't get to see it.

We are also disappointed people cannot get a good view. However, it is a working lighthouse on an Air Force Station so it limits the freedom to just drive by. Visitors to Cape Canaveral and Cocoa Beach can get a glimpse from upper floor balconies facing north (with binoculars) and also get to enjoy the rotating light at night!

The light house can not be access by the public directly but on through a tour of Cape Canaveral. We used Canaveral Tours who do small group tours of 6 yo 10 people. They put the group together unless you wish to do it. It is an outstanding tour of the presents and past sites of the space program. The lighthouse is very well maintain and the museum is interesting. The tour is a guided tour by the Lighthouse staff. There is also a NASA tour of Canaveral.

Thank you for taking a Canaveral Tour! Glad you found it "outstanding"! It is a well maintained lighthouse and as of May 2020 it now has a new coat of paint! Thanks for the review.

So much more than just a tour! Shelly and Karen brought history alive and current! The lighthouse is a stunning example of architecture and the view from inside is wonderful. The lingering visits to several historical launch pads was very memorable and a little eerie given the success and tragedy surrounding each site. Exciting to see the busy new work, complete with its own drama, creating new opportunities to dream. Highly recommended!

We like to think it is a one of a kind lighthouse! A great deal of history from when and how it was established to still being an active lighthouse. Plus as a bonus it's located right next door to launch pads! Thanks for the kind review and recommendation.

My wife is a huge fan of lighthouses, and we’ve visited dozens of them around the US. Cape Canaveral Lighthouse ranks up there with some of the best we’ve seen.
The only way to access the lighthouse is via Cape Canaveral Tours as they have a special deal with the Cape Canaveral Space Force Base where the lighthouse sits. The lighthouse itself is very well preserved, as are some of the buildings around it. The Keeper’s house has been converted into a nice little museum and gift shop.
The guides are friendly and informative, and the entire tour is well worth the visit. Two PowerTrippers thumbs up!

My wife booked this for us and we had a great time. Our tour guides were very friendly and informative. The lighthouse tour was very interesting but go in the morning before it gets too hot. We had the privilege of visiting Hanger C to see many of the rockets that started the US space and armorment program. Overall, we had a great time and would certainly recommend this to anyone interested in the lighthouse and/or space program.

A security clearance is required because you will be entering a military base. Close toed shoes must be worn if you wish to climb the lighthouse. You will see launch sites of the Mercury and Gemini missions. You also visit a museum with lots of interesting displays and information. The lighthouse itself has a unique history which is shared by docents. Our tour guide, Sharon, was very knowledgeable and engaging! We thoroughly enjoyed this experience. If you only visit the Kennedy Space Center, you haven’t seen half of our nation’s space history!

have enjoyed The Light House Tours a few different ways. And So far, the Best Tour is though Canaveral Tours. The Bus tour to the Light House is very fascinating and educational. It’s like taking a trip through time, you visit the old launch pads, block houses, and Hangars. You can climb the light house with very informative knowledgeable guides. All these Volunteers are amazing with insight though their own experiences of launches. Our tour ends at one of my favorite places to send visiting Guest, Sands Space History Center. A fascinating little place with a Hugh impact. This is a hidden gem of a tour, unforgettable, educational, and very quaint. No crowded bus or long lines and priced very reasonable. there's a 4-hour tour and a quicker 2-hour tour on Saturday's. if you are at all interested in Space flight history, this will NOT Disappoint~~~

We really liked our guided bus tour. Our Docent was very knowledgeable of the tour and gave much information along time way. She took our picture as we were coming down the outside of the lighthouse and emailed it to us back home. She was very friendly. The Lighthouse on the Cape was beautiful. We also were able to visit various sites along the way pertaining to the Space Center Program.

Is there anywhere you can view this lighthouse from a distance, without doing the tour?
Written June 8, 2020

Port Canaveral, Florida
It is a mile inland from the coast but you can get a view of it from the Atlantic on a boat. With binoculars you can view the top from the beaches area and at night you can see the light rotating. Since it is located on the Air Force Station you cannot do a close up view, (unless you have the required security credentials- which requires more than just a military id)
Written June 9, 2020
Can kids go on the tour? The Lighthouse website says one must be 48' tall and no age requirement, but trip advisor states no one under 12. Which is it?
Written March 16, 2018
The age restriction has been lifted but you must be 48” tall to climb the first 5 floors of the lighthouse
Written January 25, 2019
Are you able to drive to the lighthouse without doing a tour? We would love to do the tour, but are just passing through and unfortunately do not have time.
Written July 26, 2017
No, you have to do the tour. Reason is that it is on a military base and they will not let personal vehicles on the base. Even on the tour, you must present a valid US identification such as Driver's license or passport.
We wanted to be able to drive there ourselves too, but could not. If you do find time for a tour, it was really awesome and unique as there were many more attractions on it - not just the lighthouse.
Hope that helps!
