A wonderful place to mix history, hiking, and camping. Built by the Civilian Conservation Camp, a State Park with a unique history and amenities like most Florida State Parks

Torreya is incredible. The elevation changes and steep hills make you feel like you're on some of the lower foothills of the AT. The hikes are challenging and strenuous and, once you're on the trail, it's well marked, just getting to either the challenge or...More

We love the park....the nature hike is quite the work out.......but the view of the river from the high bank is breath taking. Visit the Mansion while here it's great.

My wife and I hike here one or two times a year. We do the 6.7 mile loop that starts from parking on left as you enter park. Don't forget to pick up the $3 park pass first. You hike through pine and wire grass...More

The house and associated story are fascinating. We were escorted by a guide-in-training who did a great job. The "real" guide had to mind the store as we arrived at 11 for the one and only 10 o'clock tour. The Appalachacola which the site overlooks...More

We spent a 3 day weekend in April, camping in our pop up and exploring the trails. A few minor negatives, just to get them out of the way: Space. The reservation website warns that sites 1-8 and 12-15 are narrow. Just know that this...More

This out of the way park has all types of camping from RV/cabin camping to primitive tent camping. The Gregory House tours provide and interesting glimpse into the historic South. The staff is friendly, the area is quiet, and the scenery is beautiful.

I don't know for sure, but I think they're open, the Florida State Parks are big supporters of First Day Hikes. They also have to have some staff there to take care of the campers! I would call them tomorrow and ask.

Yes fishing is allowed. there are a few trails that lead down to the Apalachicola River. The shortest route would be to go down the trail at the Gregory House. it is around a 1/4 mile down the hill to the water. The Rock... More
