I recently refreshed my Open Water and completed the Enriched Air Diver so was eager to get back in the ocean since it had been several years. When booking my reef dives I asked for a dive guide thinking it was wise to have an experienced diver with me, especially considering it was my first Nitrox dive (plus I was breaking in a new dive computer and some other new dive gear). I met Ren at the dock and he helped get my gear loaded onto the boat and settle in. He verified the Nitrox % in both tanks and even cleaned the inside of my new mask to remove residue from manufacturing to help reduce fogging; I really appreciated his doing that....and it worked. The boat captain, Eddie, was friendly and helpful and we shared some funny stories. The sea was a little choppy and the current was really strong so we drifted along the reef quicker than usual but Ren helped keep us where we needed to be. He pointed out lobsters, moray eels, sharks, and other sea creatures that I wouldn't have noticed. I really enjoyed both dives!

If you're looking to book some dives I highly recommend Starfish Scuba. Adam was very helpful on the phone when I called to book and you can also book online at their website. Ren is a fantastic dive guide and definitely has an eye for seeing fish that you might otherwise miss. Plus, he's very experienced, relaxed, and inspires confidence, which helped make diving all the more enjoyable. Eddie did a great job driving the boat and definitely added some humor.

It was a great day diving and I'll defintiely be using Starfish Scuba again!!

Maggie and Adam (and the rest of their team) run a fantastic business. Maggie certified us a year ago and was hyper attentive in making sure us noobs got properly trained, stayed safe, and could enjoy the beauty of the training dives. A year later, we came back and had another set of fantastic dives, fully confident in our safety and abilities thanks to our excellent training.

We highly recommend Starfish Scuba for anyone looking to get certified and/or explore the dive sites off the coast of boynton/delray. We hope to get back to FL and dive with them again soon.

You not find a better scuba team than the folks at Starfish. Maggie & Adam run an amazing boat. They truly care about every diver they have on board. Every employee was focused on making sure our experience was both safe and fun.

My dive partner left her mask on the boat. Starfish offered to ship it back to Chicago for her. That’s why I’ll keep coming back to Starfish whenever I’m in South Florida.

I had recently re-certified in OW and booked a trip with Starfish as they go out during the week, have good reviews and are very close to my house. It took me a while to post this review, because I don't want to burn any bridges in a small community but after talking to others, posting my honest experience can help them to improve or warn other divers.

First red flag - everyone on the boat knew each other. Lots of repeat divers, tec divers, rebreather and a bunch of employees were there on the day off to have fun.

That being said...not one person asked for a dive card. Adam heard someone say this and said very loud that "I didn't hear that la la la".

No briefing, nothing. All of a sudden the dive master (Derek I think) says "ok you two, ready to drop". Huh? No briefing, no nothing asking if we wanted left or right side of the reef with no explanation and off we go.

I run out of air 30 minutes into the drift dive and surface with my buddy. I have never gone through a cylinder that fast so on the boat we check for leaks and any issues.

We don't find anything and they assure me that the next dive site, we are all dropping at the same spot. If I have any issues, follow the flag up and they will be there to scoop me up.

60 foot dive - I'm checking my air constantly and as it's getting low I signal to my buddy that I'm going up, he links up with the divemaster below and all is good. I'm at my safety stop after a minute and bam...I'm sucking rubber.

I instantly swim to the surface blowing bubbles out the whole way and inflated my BCD on the surface manually. I see a boat heading right towards me, give the ok signal and it comes along side me and I quickly realize that's not my boat. They ask if I'm ok, and I say yes and then wait. About 10 minutes later here comes the Starfish boat.

They left the location to go drop Adam off to spearfish at another spot. This is the same guy who hot drops at each location to jump in and spear a fish before letting divers in. Kind of a BS move if you ask me.

I get that dive boats do different drops and pick up drift divers. My issue is that I had potential equipment problem, they knew about it, said they would be THERE and were NOT. They left the ENTIRE group of divers to go drop the owners somewhere else.

That's incompetence and gross neglect. I will never dive with these clowns again, going back to where I was certified as they employ safety in their dive charters / operation...where Starfish flies by the seat of their pants.

As a follow up, I did have a leak in hose connection that was causing this issue, I have since had that fixed.

I sent spearfishing with them three days in a row in December of 2022. The crew was all friendly and helpful, and they had plenty of snacks and bottled water. They were quick to offer everyone a water and proactively looked for ways to help divers. The one crew member (Ren I believe) was very helpful in that I had a brand new mask, and he treated it with toothpaste and flame so it would not fog, and that was a big help. I have used many charters in the area, and this is my new favorite-i plan to go back many times.

Thank you Ren and Chris for an amazing experience over the past few days getting PADI certified. My wife and I and our two kids (14 and 12) loved it. Ren was an incredible instructor. Extremely knowledgeable and patient. He took so much time to explain everything and made the entire experience fun and easy. He definitely made us all feel safe and in control. We can’t wait to dive again.

We highly recommend getting PADI certified with Starfish Scuba. Thanks again Ren!!!

I absolutely love this charter. I drive up from Miami at least once a month to dive with them. Captain Chris, Julia, Motti and Dani are all fantastic! I love the fact that when I rent steel tanks they are at 36% and filled to 3800 psi. They also cater to spearfishing and take us to excellent locations! They also always offer to filet my catch. I highly recommend (actually I should just keep it a secret!). They obviously love what they do and it shows.

I completed my Open Water Certification with Starfish Scuba. Chose this outfit because of the hospitality of the owner & captain, Chris Deen. My instructor and guide, Ren Rieur, was polite, patient, knowledgeable, very hospitable, and one the clearest communicators, above & below the water, I have been with. Ren helped me improve my breathing and neutral buoyancy, on my first day of dives. Because of this, I became very comfortable underwater. This created an incredible second day of diving on our drift dive at a depth of 60’. I was free simply to focus on my beautiful surroundings.
I would recommend Starfish Scuba, and Ren Rieur, to everyone.

Just came back from 4 days of great dives.
From the booking to the very last dive, everything went perfect. I'm into deep, wreck dives so I was looking forward to their Goliath Grouper/Castor dive. When I didn't see it scheduled for my dates I contacted the shop and Maggie quickly emailed me back saying "I added it on those dates" How easy was that - SOLD!

The boat crew is easygoing yet hardworking, helpful and very knowledgeable. They are also super generous with air (3500+psi) NITROX (35+%).

The boat is clean and comfortable with dry storage, coolers for water/cameras/catch - only issue is the Marine Head is "Haunted."

When there was some engine problem on our way back to the dock yesterday the crew helped each other and got the issue resolved. Cheers and huge Thanks to Captain Chris, Instructors Derick and Ren. Great professionalism and team work - you guys are like Three Musketeers!
