From a historical perspective it is worth a visit. Rather tacky however. I understand that it is still in the recovery stages after a hurricane, so that may explain why. The young lady (ranger?) was very friendly and knowledgeable.
We visited here December 2016 while on vacation and really enjoyed the Old Florida ambiance. So lush with old trees, palms and shrubbery. Was amazed by the # of alligators here, flamingos, tortoises, turtles etc. September 2017 Hurricane Irma hit and EWG had significant damage....More

Highly recommended that you take an afternoon and visit the Everglades Wonder Gardens! You won't be disappointed. We visited at the end of November and a few of the reptiles were not on exhibit, but the crocodile and flamingo exhibits made up for that!
Awesome little zoo that allows you to get up close with many of the wildlife! Purchase food and feed the flamingos by hand and toss food to the alligators. Great displays well maintained by a dedicated staff. Leslie and Gary answered our many questions. Loved...More
