When friends or family come to town,we always schedule a trip on Tropic Star. Typically we have lunch at Cabbage Key and then have a couple hours of beach time. A perfect day The cruise out and back is always informative and we get to...More
Perfect captain to take 7 of us to Cayo Costa. He stopped halfway so my very excited kiddos could watch the dolphins jumping. He gave us history of the islands. He chatted with us all and made jokes with my 5 year old.

We have taken this boat ride several times to Caya Costa....it is a beautiful getaway to an undeveloped island....a true 'old Florida' paradise. The boat ride is a lot of fun..the narration entertaining...but the true joy is spending time at the beach on this 'wild'...More
Our trip to Cayo Costa aboard the Tropic Star was just fine. The boat was full to the max, but the Captains were cheerful and helpful getting everyone's stuff loaded. They even waited a few extra minutes for some stragglers who were running late. For...More

Depends on what they like. I took the cruise to spend the day at Cayo Costa Island and I would do that again in a heartbeat over eating but that's me. This is a great place to spend the day and walk the island and collecting sea shells and it doesn't feel like you are in Florida. I understand there are other cruises that take you to eat lunch or dinner which could be nice as well. Then of course watching the sunset from the water is always a great thing too. The boat itself is a simple transporting boat nothing fancy the romantic piece would be what they make of it from either spending the day on an island you can only reach by boat or at lunch or dinner or catching the sunset. Hope this helps :-)
We paid $32 per person, round trip to Cayo Costa. Well worth it if you want to lay in the sun, go shelling, swim. Nothing there though so take whatever (picnic, chairs...) you want to have while there.
