About
Sugar Sand Park features the Community Center, which houses the Children's Science Explorium and the Willow Theatre; and the Field House, which features an indoor gymnasium. Developed by the Greater Boca Raton Beach & Park District and operated by the City of Boca Raton, this 132-acre park continues its commitment to enhance the role of recreation and culture for residents and visitors alike. Sugar Sand Park is open 365 days a year - the Community Center and Children's Science Explorium are closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day. Built to American Society for Testing & Materials standards, the Science Playground is strong and safe, with a soft, impact-attenuating ground surface. This surface is also the key to the wayfinding feature, allowing parents and children to pinpoint their exact location within the playground through identifying markings. The inclusive playground features new swings, slides, and an expanded climbing structure that allows for greater access to people of all ages and abilities, and greater visibility for parents and children alike. The updated interactive water feature showcases a variety of sea creatures, and a new train station-themed toddler play area has been added.

This is the perfect place to brings kids or have a family outing. There is a playground and a water elemnt apart of it too. There are ice creams trucks too. It is also good for kids birthday parties. There are also quiet areas away from the playgrounds and pavilons for other activties. I have hab multiple birthday parties there and went there for recreational reasons many times. It is really fun and thier is a lot of spacce for children to play. There is many different activities for children. When I was it was really nice. It was clean and they was no noise other than children's laughter. I think drinking is not allowed so, it is very tranquil. Over all I had a great experience. My only grevance and advice it that at time there are many racoons so, leave before it gets really dark. The park closes at that anyway so, you should be fine.

Please be advised that the Community Center, Children's Science Explorium, Willow Theatre, Carousel, Playground, and Field House are currently closed.***

We arrived to find the main play area and carousel closed. The above notice was taken off of the website, adhering to COVID safety.

Would of been fun and not sure if we will make it back!

Amazing for children, I've been here ever since I was a kid and I see younger generations in my family go here. It's an all time favorite for kids, they have playgrounds and interactive things. The best for day trips and for a break in general.

One of the (many) jewels in Boca Raton. Great playground for little kids including a merry go round! Well kept baseball fields for Little League and for parents who want to hit ground or fly balls for their kid(s) to catch for practice. Skating rink for roller hockey. Basketball courts. Small science museum for little kids. Area for bar-b-ques. This park has it all!

This place holds several memories, all exceptionally fun when I was a child. The park was great, indoor basketball court, outdoor, they had a play ground with swings. They even host events now and then which undoubtedly were some of the most fun times I've had during my younger years. I've still been there recently and it's still a great park.

Wish we had more time to play here! Best park I have ever been to. They have great separation for kids of all ages. We went during a school day so it wasn’t that busy. A little of a drive from Hollywood but we’ll worth it! If you have kids, get here!!!

My experience at sugar sand park was great. My favorite part was all the fun activities you can do. For example go in the park, go on the carousel ,etc. It was definitely worth the time to go there. Plus its free!!

We went here for the Children's Science Explorium and while there discovered the wonderful playground right next to it. Our two year old granddaughter had a great time at both. The playground is great for all ages and abilities. The toddler area is super!!!

Completely free, no entrance fee, no parking fee, no fee to use picnic areas, no fee for the jungle gym or water areas, bathrooms, air conditioned areas etc. The beautiful full sized Circus quality Carousel is $1 per ride, great value considering it must be staffed and maintained.

Bring: towel and change of clothes if getting wet; pail and shovel if small children want to play in the sandbox; small cooler packed lunch if you want to picnic; drinks; camera/video for all the smiles and "look at me" you will get.

Can be a short visit or an all day event depending on what you bring and age of your kids. We went on Easter and brought our 67 and 72 year old family members and even they had fun, it was a lovely day. We were an all-adults group this time, and we managed to spend over an hour just walking around enjoying other people's children.

THIS PARK IS NOT RECOMMENDED IF you are TOO tired, lazy or otherwise unwilling to exert energy running around with your children. Everyone goes home tired and happy.

The climbing park is fantastic (Note the description is an active verb-climbing- meaning be prepared to be active!) because there are lots of ups and downs, slides, trails, water works, musical instruments, a run where you race against lights that represent the speed of different animals (for small children choose the mouse as a good race partner), a huge sandbox for small children (bring shovel and pail) even a large interactive electronic game where you hit the green lights as they flash but not the red ones, etc. Lots to do, and I only described the one climbing area. There is also the Carousel, science center, Hockey, softball, picnic areas, weekly shows in the theatre, walking trails and ample shaded areas and parking.

If you are 4 or under Mom or Dad should accompany you through the adventures. Older you are probably okay with parent watching you burn off all that energy. (lots of seated areas to do so)
Overall a great park. Go enjoy yourself, even if you have no kids use your imagination and be a kid again... beware of pirates shooting water cannons on the high seas, Argh matey! :)

Took my toddler here during our vacation and he had a blast. There were swings, an extensive jungle gym/maze, learning activities (all were not working) and a carousel, which was fun! All set in a clean, green space, where you could observe birds and squirrels. Quite nice!
