Very small beach and swimming area with all of the Atlantic side fenced off. Not worth the admission fee.

It is a wonderful beach. Ideal for families with children, since the water is shallow for a long time. They have restored the restrooms and showers and the lockers are almost complete. The Nature Center is open. HOWEVER, it costs $9 to get there. The...More

Cost us $9 to get in (2 people) The beach (Calusa Beach) at the end is open, but the whole Bahia Honda Beach is closed with a big fence around it. You can walk up the old Bahia Honda Railroad bridge and get some great...More

I love Bahia Honda. It's beautiful. HOWEVER, the whole oceanside is completely closed off due to hurriance damage. Calusa Beach is open. It's a small beach with about 2 covered shelters and a few picnic tables. Bring a large umbrella and/or some sort of sunshelter...More

The staff here has done such an excellent job at getting the park up and running. The sandspur beach is still closed and we really missed walking on that part of the park. Thanks to the staff and volunteers to get such a great State...More

Although much damage was received by Hurricane Irma this is still a beautiful spot if you have a respect for nature. It is a smaller beach so it can get crowded during the winter and on holiday weekends. Nice temporary restrooms are available for your...More

Calusa is an interior beach in Bahia Honda park so has much calmer water than the ocean side of the park. Right now, only Calusa is open in the park due to extensive storm damage from hurricane Irma. Limited camping. Beach has some build up...More

Lot's of people go to Bahia Honda and think this is the only beach available. While Calusa is very scenic, it is also very small and most times crowded. Plan to explore the park and check out Sandspur beach as well.

Another nice beach in Bahia Honda State Park, although much less than Sandspur Beach, located in same park.

Most folks will not even know they're getting bite by the no-see-ums (until the next day). The park sells a spray which may help with the "no-see-ums" (think it's called "no-gnats"). Calusa Beach is a decent beach. It's not my favorite at Bahia Honda. Still...More
