We booked yesterday via the WhatsApp number for Putu...responded within 20 minutes.
Arranged pick up and drop off from our Seririt resort.
Arrived on time at 0830 and drove smoothly for 30 minutes into the hills to start the walk. Putu has an encyclopedic knowledge of plants and their health and medicinal benefits. He has a wealth of laminated flashcards to show the cultivation cycles. Lots of anecdotes passed down from his grandfather.
After 2 hours plus strolling through the rice terraces and snapping photos he drove us to his house nearby where his wife Ria had prepared balinese lunch...extremely tasty local food, veg or chicken options.
Fond farewells to his family before he dropped us back at our lodgings around 2pm.
Unforgettable experience...great value commercially and as local immersion. Highly recommended.
We are over 60's fairly fit, and found the slow 4km walk well within our abilities. Putu provided extra water bottles when ours ran out.
Trainers and socks advised.

Putu Artana, the owner, first took us for a short ride to the beginning of the walk, it is an easy path. Putu pays a lot of attention to the plants and fruits and what they are used for, both in dishes and for medical reasons. The setting is beautiful, along rice fields and other crops. Nice views too.
What we found special is his story about why there are sacrifices at the rice fields and how his grandfather passed that on to him.
The walk ended with a delicious lunch at his home, all Balinese dishes prepared by his wife Ria.
All in all, it took from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm for 300,000 rp/pp

We had a fabulous experience with Putu! For approximately 2.5 hours we had the opportunity to explore a traditional Balinese farm/ village and rice fields. We learned about the family culture, farming techniques, crops and lifestyle. Putu shared a lot about his own family, upbringing and the Hindu culture. Bali is such a magnificent island and it was so great to understand a bit more about the culture and lifestyle beyond the beautiful beaches and fabulous shopping opportunities.
After our beautiful and educational walk we shared a delicious, traditional lunch prepared by Putu's wife Ria at their home.
Overall, this was one of my favorite mornings in Bali!

Beautiful walk through an authentic part of Bali. With Putu as our guide, we got a nice insight into nature and people who live and work in that same nature. Putu has a lot of knowledge about that nature and backs up the facts with nice stories and where necessary accompanying pictures. Of course, not every fruit or flower blossoms at the time you go out with Putu. Putu is very well prepared and supports his stories with pictures and examples of varieties of rice, fruits and seeds. Even a delicious sweet treat to taste!
As icing on the cake, we had a delicious lunch at Putu and Ria's home. Very convivial and very elaborate, we enjoyed the food very much!

Impressive hike in the north of Bali with a helpful and very informative guide Putu. The hike through the forests with fruit and spice plants, the rice fields and the insights into food production and village life were an unforgettable experience for us. After our 3.5 hour hike, we were welcomed and entertained at Putu's home with a great lunch prepared by his wife Ria.
Thank you for this great hospitality and the insight into the Balinese way of life.

Great experience and really recommended to anyone who would like to go a bit off the beaten path.
Putu is a great guide and he can show you around his home area, including beautiful rice terraces but also explain a lot about local plants, fruits, vegetables, etc. His wife is a great host too and prepares a very tasty Balinese lunch, plus you get a rare chance to actually eat at someone’s home.
Don’t think twice, include the tour on your agenda when visiting north Bali!!!

We were kindly received by Putu, who took us by car a little further to a beautiful hiking trail. First a bit through a forest, where Putu explained in an extremely nice way about all the trees and the associated fruit. Then we walked to the rice fields where they were working and got a good idea of how this whole process works. After about 2.5 hours we were back at Putu's house where his wife Ria had prepared a delicious lunch with delicious Balinese dishes. Highly recommended to know something about Bali in this way.

We came to Putu for the second time. Both times we enjoyed the walk. Putu is a very nice guide who knows everything about his subject. After the walk we had a delicious lunch and could address him and his wife many questions about life on Bali and ask for further recommendations . Definitely recommend.
