Nature at it's best
May 2021 • Couples
From the nature center there are maps of the trails. We took the tulip tree path. Nice trail with beautiful big tulip trees. Gentle path. Other trails looked interesting but just coming off an Achilles tendon issue didn't go far. The first state passport stamp is available at the nature center. There is a place to pay for parking.

Brief stop
Sep 2020
We stopped briefly at Brandywine Creek state park. There is plenty of parking by the lot at Hawk Watch. Nice walking trails. Flushing toilets and porta potties available. We saw lots of families picnicking.

Looks like a great place!
Aug 2020
Couldn't stay, but this looks like a great place for outdoor activities - we saw people picnicking as well as carrying water tubes for the creek. Park office was open, and both First State NHP stamps were available - one of two sites to get that park's stamps, according to the site's website. We'll definitely be back and take advantage of what the park has to offer!

Tubing and hiking
Jul 2020 • Friends
I have both hiked the trails and tubed down the creek at Brandywine Creek State Park. Great and scenic trails. Actually saw more wildlife while tubing than hiking. Tubed from Brandywine River Museum of art to Thompson Bridge. There are warnings to not go past Thompson Bridge due to the dams. Some low parts of the creek had to be walked, but definitely relaxing and fun. There were also kayakers and canoes out as well. Small parking lot at Thompson bridge, get there early. Wear sunblock, bug spray, bring water, shades, a paddle for steering, a trash bag and water shoes.

Many trails are closed
May 2020
They have closed most of the trails. If there is any problem, instead of solving it, they just close the trail. A small wooden bridge was broken. They never built it .
Actually they do not even need a bridge there. It can easily be crossed without it. The tiny water path is hardly 6 ft long. And about one or two inches deep ( when it rains) . They can just place 2 or 3 small rocks to make it easier to cross.
But they found it more convenient to close the entire half a mile trail !!!
There so many other trails with signs of “Trail under repair”. They have been closed for many years!
It looks most of the budget is spent on administration.

Nice Staff
Jun 2019
Though the park requires and entrance fee, the staff kindly let us go to the visitor's center to collect a parks passport book stamp without paying.

Nice little park
Dec 2019 • Couples
We went for a short hike here through the woods and along the river. There are some lovely large trees. The trail was not in great condition and could use better marking. It was a good place to get out and get a little exercise on a winter day

A wonderful Delaware State Park
Aug 2019
The park is a wonderful park. It was a duPont family estate and has wonderful walking trails, horse riding, picnic areas and a running track with exercise stations.

afternoon of fun
Jun 2019 • Couples
State park with admission fee or yearly pass. Large wooded land - great for hiking on trails, bird watching, or wildlife scouting. Walk down hill far enough and you'll get to the Brandywine river for fishing. Also has a seasonal trout stream at the entrance. Frisbee golf course. Large fields for whatever - kite flying in spring or snow sledding in winter. Nature center with bathrooms. Picnic tables and grills. Pavillion. Great place for little children to wear themselves out for an afternoon.
