This estate is one of the most well maintained properties I've ever seen. The mansion is maintained in pristine condition with friendly docents ready with great stories for every room. The gardens are also beautifully maintained with friendly staff eager to answer questions and make visitors welcome. The gardens are based on Versailes and very beautiful. You can walk around... This grandeur of this mansion is nearly overwhelming! Outstanding beauty surrounds visitors with opulence. A must see for those who love American history and touring mansions.

As you walk down the hall to the shuttle bus there is a time line of the Du Pont family. This will show you why this mansion was built. One sided love story. A very generous and caring man was Alfred Du Pont! As you go through the house you go back in time. This is a place you have... More

Love Nemours! Have been there a few times. The house is a fabulously "livable" mansion and the gardens match Versailles. But . . . they used to have guided tours of the house which included very cool spaces like the "mechanical room" and all of the other inner workings that are unique to this house. Now, it's "self guided" and... More

My husband and I decided to take a day trip to the Nemours Museum and Gardens in Wilmington, Delaware. Unfortunately, the road signs and our GPS didn't help make it easy to find. I hope that this will be corrected as this place is a REAL GEM. We learned so much about Alfred DuPont, his family, his history, and most... More

Breath taking mansion and gardens. There was a shuttle that takes you to the mansion. There are maps to show the way around and a video about the history of the place, and the story of Alfred Du Pont. Highly recommended for all ages, a beautiful trip for photographers as well.

We have been to many estate museums, this is one of our favorites. First you have the visitors center which has an excellent timeline to orient you with the time frame of the family and what was going on around the world at the time. After you finish at the visitor center you take a shuttle to the property. You... More

Allow plenty of time for this tour. We stayed 4 hours and could've stayed longer! Ask questions about the family to the guides posted throughout the house. Betsy is the BEST! She talks about Ms. Jessie like they are old friends! Wonderful step back in time.

Self guided tours, but with attendance to answer questions. A tram takes you from the information booth to the actual mansion entrance. Exceptional grounds!

Anyone who is familiar with Delaware history knows that this state flourished with the help of the duPont Family. Their many mansions speckle our state and are proof to the influence and wealth of the duPont families' MANY branches. The Nemours Mansion and Gardens is a perfect example of one the duPont Estates, and was the home of Alfred I... More
