Let's keep it real for a second or maybe more. The Nemours Mansion & Gardens is hands down the biggest piece of historical land I've ever explored. The history behind it is quite simple; it was a gift from Alfred Dupont to his second wife, Alicia. I KNOW! Can I get an Alfred too? Any who, the estate is about... More

One of the wonderful manor house estates that the duPont family created many years ago, it has been beautifully preserved and even enhanced for visitors to enjoy. The grounds are spectacular, and the main house is still a gracious and welcoming place. The incredible display of antique automobiles in the enormous garage area would be worth the visit by itself.... More

It is amazing how people lived when they ad money. You don't need to go to Rhide Island to see their mansions we have a lot here. This is a place definitely not for children. Go by yourself so you can really take in all that this house has to offer. If you can, go outside to the pools and... More

You’ll only be minutes away from downtown Wilmington, but you’ll feel like you are in another part of the world here at Nemours Estate. The 47,000-square-foot home, referred to as the “grandest house in Delaware” is pure French in design, with 77 rooms and fabulous gardens. Photographers will want to take their cameras as there is so much to capture,... More

I visited in December, so was unable to tour the gardens; I plan to return next spring to see them. The house is incredible, and was lived in up until the early 70s. There are many original features, which make the house a must-see. However, all tours are self-guided; if you happen to spot one of the guides, you get... More

If you like to see how the other half (used to) live, this is good for you. Lots of old-timey furniture and fixtures. Interesting place. Lots of room to walk and lovely grounds.

Nemours is the mansion that was home to Alfred I. du Pont in the last decades of his life. The grounds of the estate are shared with the hospital for children that he and his wife created, one of the best such hospitals in the United States. The gardens are extensive and deserve a visit throughout the year, weather permitting.... More
