My wife and I took my granddaughters to the Peterson Wildlife Refuge to scoop for tadpoles and small fish. The guide explained how to catch them and then how to release them again. We walked along different trails and saw lots of flowers and plants and some wild creatures. It was a lot of fun.

Wilmington's most unappreciated attribute, the River Front walk, ends at the Russell W. Peterson Wildlife Refuge. This is an awesome sanctuary, a peaceful retreat, that celebrates the beauty of wetlands & wildlife. The boardwalk offers access over the wetlands & ponds and there is always wildlife to admire. It's a place of tranquility, nothing elaborate, just nature.

This is a lovely, scenic walk right along the Riverfront. Close walk from restaurants. A hidden gem tucked away in all the hustle and bustle of busy downtown Wilmington. Take a leisurely stroll along the Boardwalks and just take in the quiet serenity.

The much improved boardwalk is filled with trees and flowering shrubs that attract the birds. A great easy walk for families---so bring your binoculars and enjoy the day. Connect with nature.

A nice place to take a walk along the Wilmington Riverfront. You get to see some of the wildlife in Northern Delaware. I think it is a great start to clean the area up.

It is good that duPont sponsored building this wildlife refuge. The landscaping is very intresting although some of the rock sculptures have not held up well to weather and vandalism the past few years. The science building is a peculiar construction that you enter on the second floor. Nice vistas of the marsh and boardwalk nearby -- you can take... More

This is a wonderful oasis of wildlife near the heart of Wilmington. We saw a juvenile bald eagle fishing in the river. There are nature trails and education stations on the refuge.

Family members introduced us to this after dining nearby, so while our visit was brief, it was enjoyable. We will be back again when we can explore and spend more time. We visited with family from 7-73 and we all spend 5 min or more watching a rabbit hop on the path below us. While there are stairs, there is... More

I can't express how happy it makes me visiting this place. Not only is it wonderfully well maintained but it feels like a completely different world. It's such a great spot in this sometimes yucky city.

Over the years I've been to dozens of fine gardens, some certainly on a grander scale than this one. But the balance of plantings and sculpture is just right, and the benches and granite steps are completely complementary. For a small-scale public garden this was as impressive as any.
