Tubman-Garrett is a compact park at the foot of N. Market St., and is the eastern terminus of the Wilmington Riverwalk (recently re-named the Jack A. Markell Trail). The park is conveniently located just steps away from the Joseph R. Biden Jr. Railroad Station (if you’re arriving by Amtrak or Septa), the Wilmington Bus Station (Greyhound), and the DART Transit Center (local bus system). There is also street parking and lots nearby if you’re arriving by car.
Named for Tubman, the noted abolitionist, suffragette, and Union Army spy; and Garrett, the Quaker merchant who risked his career and life to be Wilmington’s “stationmaster” of the Underground Railroad. The centerpiece of the park is a moving and powerful sculpture with lifelike figures entitled “Unwavering Courage in the Pursuit of Freedom” by artist Mario Chiodo.
This park is a must-see for travelers following the UGRR trail, but is also a scenic beginning or end for walkers, joggers, and cyclists enjoying the views on the Christina River. This park is also home to numerous Wilmington festivals and concerts, and is the start/finish line for running events. Many shops, restaurants, and other attractions are nearby.

The Tubman-Garrett Riverfront Park is part of the total riverfront area of town. It is located just behind the train station appropriate for strolling around while waiting for the trains or after nice meal in historic downtown. It consist of a nice garden with sculptures and big space for outdoor recreation and event. Plenty of parking space if you are driving to the area.

Wilmington was very much involved in the Underground Railroad and as you stroll along the Riverwalk you'll find stations with descriptions of aspects of this 19th century movement, here led by Tubman and Garrett, to bring slaves from the south to freedom in the north. The Tubman-Garret Park is on the Riverwalk and is well worth visiting, especially for its powerful monumental statue of Tubman and Garrett.

Quiet restful surrounding with a great River side path to stroll along having a good conversation with a loved one. Plenty of spots to stop along the way, either under the shade of a tree or if you want to much on something at one of the many restaurants along the walk. We watched people kayaking and native birds along the waterway.

The whole river front scene in Wilmington is great. The entrance to the Tubman-Garrett Park is quite impressive. Come on down to the riverfron to stroll, shop, eat and see a ball game!

The Riverfront has come a long way since I moved here. When I first came to Delaware, this area was a giant wasteland with one or two closed bars. I do appreciate all the hard work put into making this a much more attractive area. The "Please Touch" Museum is there for kids, lots of great eateries and of course the IMAX theatre. All of which make for a nice day out. The one thing they haven't managed to figure out is the smell that sometimes comes from the river. Also, be aware that most all of the shoppes and attractions on the riverfront are on the higher end of costs, so be prepared to spend a few bucks. But the view is spectacular and btw - Joe's Crab Shack is there - Great food!!

Secure and lovely area to stroll about. Placards inform you of the history of the area. The classic hand designed and built commemorative birdhouse by Richard Burke are very interesting. He is a local craftsman that will build a bird house to replicate your home. (provided it has character - no tract housing) I know the costs, you won't need a mortgage just about one mortgage payment will cover his artwork.
Lots of restaurants just off the beautifully landscaped walk.
Visit - take comfortable shoes and enjoy the view.

We only saw the park during a Race Expo, so it was filled with expo tents. Still, it seemed like a beautiful place, right next to the river.

Great walk! Kids had an ice cream along the Riverwalk and we stopped for dinner. Very clean and well maintained trail for a family stroll.

What a great place to experience a music festival. We have been there for blues as well as reggae. Always a good time. Lots of vendors, food and merchandise. Don't hesitate to attend an event here. We try to do it at least once a year. You won't be disappointed. We met Bob Marley's mother and sister here some years back.

Hi! We are coming to your park for the Big Noise festival tomorrow. Are we allowed to bring backpacks and bottles of water? Have not found any rules for this venue. Thanks!
