Left Ocean City, Md after enjoying a week at the beach, and we didn’t need to rush home. Discovered this little gem and glad we did. Definitely worth the trip. Highly suggested if you’re in the area!!

Fantastic short ride to cross river
Jun 2020
Rode from Hampton Inn, safetly on side streets down to ferry 7.8 miles away. Ferry goes when you are there and it's FREE. Took first left on River Road and got back to town and hotel with about 15 miles total. Felt very safe since traffic was light.

Just an old time ferry crossing the Nanticoke

Pleasant ride saves miles of driving from Laurel to Reliance. Free cable ferry, operated by the State of Delaware.

Short & sweet ferry ride to the good old days but not a full day event.
The ferry crew were very polite and efficient.

Woodland Ferry is rebuilt and OPERATIONAL AGAIN!!!
Aug 2019
This historic ferry goes back hundreds of years in varying iterations. This includes a first hand account of being pushed by a log sliding on a rope to the current steel one. For a free ride, you can't beat it. Stop by and enjoy! We are grateful to have it back online!

Quick trip

I guess the whole point is to get across the river so you don't have to drive around. However, this convenience is only available here and there. Every time I drive by that area, there is a sign saying ferry closed mu h more than ferry open. So not as convenient as it could be.

Cross on the Historic Ferry
Sep 2018 • Business
The ferry runs on a convenient schedule for daytime travelers. There is no place on either sides that offer refreshments or even a bathroom, so plan accordingly.

The ferry runs during both low and high tides.

Follow the signs to find the ferry. The longest wait is usually no more than 15 minutes.

Embarkation and disembarkation are smooth, safe events.

Not a destination in itself but a fun activity at no cost!

Free ferry crossing from Woodland/Seaford to the other side of the Nanticoke River Seaford/Laurel/Blades area. Three minute ride. Almost never a wait open most daylight hours.

Where can you go , put your auto on the ferry and not cost one dime. I love it. They assist you in parking, with good instruction. Make sure you follow their instructions.

What a nice experience of driving your car onto the Ferry for a short ride across the Nanticoke River. And it is FREE!
