I read about this museum in a book 20 years ago and wanted to go ever since. My mother always said no and didn't understand how awesome it was despite me reading the passage to her over and over. 20 years pass and Mom travelled here with her husband. They LOVED IT. (Being right is awesome.) On a homecoming trip... More

After driving across almost 4000km of Canada this summer, I have probably mentioned this little roadside amusement to more people than any other. It is quick and absolutely amusing stop just east of Red Deer. Just a hoot for kids. Totally worth getting off the highway!

Way to go Torrington for making this a must stop visit. Looks from the outside like a one room schoolhouse. Some people took a lot of care & attention to detail setting up the vignettes. Interesting stories from the War Bride guide today. Only $2 adults....help support small towns, hamlets in Alberta Unique local handmade crafts available in gift shop.

Checked out the museum on the way to Drumheller and enjoyed every minute. This little town is filled with gophers from the painted fire hydrants to the larger than life size paintings and statues. The highlight of the visit of course was the Gopher Hole Museum. Upon entering we were greeted by a very friendly host who explained the museum... More

This small little place is great. The woman who was working, the owner I think, was adorable and sweet. She was very welcoming. The place is small, but so worth the deviation from the highway. The taxidermy is great and the displays are fantastic. If you are into taxidermy and just strange stuff there is also Froggy Land in Croatia,... More

So nice to see so much care and attention given to a local spot. It's obvious how proud the locals are if this museum, it's evident in the care of the place. Really enjoyed our visit.

This museum was everything I hoped it would be and more. It contains 30ish small dioramas of elaborately styled taxidermy gophers depicted in hilarious and adorable scenes. This is the quintessential small rural museum experience and is must see for ever Albertan.

I have stopped in here once every couple summers since I was a kid and have always enjoyed myself. The one room museum has 30+ displays of stuffed gophers in different outfits with different backdrops (astronaut gopher, wildwest gopher, gophers getting married, etc) The attention to detail is pretty impressive and for a couple of bucks its worth the stop... I fell in love at first sight, my curiosity for the species took over me and I immediately took the long road to the World famous Gopher Hole Museum. You see, I'm a dedicated trucker, I truck, that what I do, and sometimes I like to treat myself. Amazing museum, would love to go again.
