- Anthony RWilmington, Delaware2,115 contributionsKeep Bezos on EarthThis actual brick-and-mortar bookstore is a great excuse to not finance Jeff Bezos’ next space flight! Browseabout not only has a great selection with great reads for every age and taste, but it’s kind of a community center in the heart of Rehoboth. For the little ones, there are reading and game days. Authors well-known and emerging drop by for signings. The café provides sustenance for early morning informal social clubs, and for those of us who still like the tactile sensation of newspaper, Browseabout carries the local rags from D.C. to N.Y.C. Besides authors, one might bump into some notable RB vacationers among the stacks here, including Hoda Kotb, Dave Grohl, POTUS, and FLOTUS. And no wonder…service here is as outstanding as they are friendly. All of the staff is knowledgeable about their inventory, and are happy to make recommendations or take special requests. As a Delaware native, I’m always drawn to the books of local interest section. They might also have the best selection of greeting cards in town.Visited October 2021Written November 11, 2021
- RCMoeurPhoenix, Arizona698 contributionsBig building for beach booksWe visited on our Big 2022 Road Trip, as Browseabout was hosting a book signing by Elin Hildebrand and we were instructed that no matter what else might happen on our transcontinental adventure we would be at this shop THAT day. Parking on a summer weekend was an adventure, but the store is remarkable large and well-stocked, and handles hordes of well-mannered book fans well. Prices are reasonable, and the staff friendly.Visited June 2022Written February 6, 2023
- Kimberly4adayBaltimore, Maryland34 contributionsA Very Cozy BookstoreMy first stop in Rehoboth is always Browseabout Books. They have a wide selection of books, New and used, and magazines. Their gift shop is crammed full of cards, beads, and wonderful smelling soaps. Their children's section is amazing and they sell coffee! It's like heaven.Visited January 2020Written February 1, 2020

Picked up some gifts to take home for friends and family. Loved the way they painted books on the outside of the building to entice you in. - TravellerNew York City, New York3,120 contributionsExcellent storeI stopped in several times at Browseabout Books during my recent stay in Rehoboth Beach. It is located on Rehoboth Avenue 1.5 blocks from the boardwalk. I liked the hours as it is open 8 am to 10 pm and always busy. I liked the history section and the local interest / regional travel section which provided books on Delaware and the Delmarva (Delaware, Maryland, Virginia eastern shore). The store also sells games. souvenirs, gifts, cards, etc.Visited July 2021Written July 31, 2021
- Mike BRehoboth Beach, Delaware405 contributionsGreat for families with kids!My oldest son loves to read. Browseabout is a big treat for him. I love when a child ASKS to go to the bookstore to get books. Plus, the employees are so nice. I asked for a specific book and they did not have it. The nice lady quickly ordered it for me and it will be in stock in a few days. I could have went on Amazon, but why? You can’t replace helpful, courteous service like this. Besides, it gives me an excuse to go downtown, grab a coffee there and maybe some luxury soap in the gift shop. Probably some Legos for the kids!Visited February 2021Traveled with familyWritten January 31, 2021
- clabbersValley Forge, Pennsylvania155 contributionscustomer service needs improvementI like to support independent bookstores because I know it can be difficult to compete with the big chains and the online book sellers. Staff here are never rude but they do not go out of their way to be helpful either. If I cannot find something and ask, they more or less say well if it wasn't there we don't have it. Often they will not offer to help you look and I have never been asked if I would like them to see if they can get it. I am referring to books and magazines, not their gift shop section. I think the reason they stay in business is that there is no competition nearby. I wish there were.Visited January 2013Traveled soloWritten March 3, 2013

The Eastern European women who man the cash register are courteous. But the owner (a big, older guy) has a real attitude problem toward customers. This morning, I politely asked him a legitimate question, and he sassed me. I tried again, and he sassed me again. Wow. No excuse for that.

It is always a pleasure to go into the relaxed atmosphere of Browseabout Books to choose a summer read. They have a great selection of local authors--of which there are many--and a knowledgeable staff to help you select that perfect book to read while at the beach. One on-going special attraction is the number of book signings they hold each week. You get to talk with the author and have your copies signed right there.

Do they serve coffee?

Yes, Glynda C! There is a coffee bar. I've never had coffee there, but it IS there! I think one can get a cappuccino (or espresso, or both?) too, and definitely various teas. My deal is a late afternoon/early evening visit in season, so in order to beat the meter opression, I spend it looking for books, mostly, although I have bought some decor items and a few gifts. Just no coffee.
