I have been shopping at the Co-ip's Farmers Market for years already and it seems it is just getting better and better. I am so pleased to have local farmers at this market - "local" includes those from adjacent areas of PA and MD, fortunately. There are a bit cheaper (with more economic prices) and larger farmers markets at about 40 min or more away from Newark, but this is so close that I do not have to invest too much time - which is very important for me. I am very pleased that farm raised meat is available, too. Also, Big Sky Bakery comes regularly, which is great, as well as some other merchants with baked goods. Finding a place to park might be difficult, though. The parking is large, yet there are other shops opened on Sunday mornings (when the FM takes place) with their customers. The market does not operate after the Thanksgiving, but the Newark Natural Food Shop (the organizer of this FM) offers plenty of local stuff throughout the winter. - and they have a small restaurant throughout the year, with all the local goodies from the FM prepared on the spot. There are also some trucks which serve various fried food, pizza baked on real fire and similar - I am not a fan, but always see a long line of people waiting for their food. This FM is pet friendly, too. Overall, I am happy to have it in Newark.

Great place for local produce, meats, eggs, handmade crafts and food. If the truck selling fish tacos is there treat yourself and get a meal. They are out of this world. One of my favorite vendors sells handmade specialty flavored sausages. These combined with the local peppers and onions are to die for. I always cook up a bunch and freeze for long winter months. Can't beat it for fresh, organic, local produce and meats and cheeses.

Every Sunday, during the nice weather months, I always make it a point to head down to the Newark Farmers Market in Newark Shopping Center. It's worth the trip. Wonderful local vendors and yummy food trucks participate, making it a mid-day must. Koi fish tacos are a lunch favorite of mine I get all my produce from local farmers and always stop by the Co-Op. Support your local sources!

Stopped by here last week to check out the farmers market. It is held in the parking lot of the Newark Natural Foods Co-op Market. It is held on Sundays, rain or shine, from 10a-2p starting the first Sunday in May & running into mid Fall.

At this farmers market we saw veggies & other produce, jams/jellies, baked goods, fish tacos, honey, flowers, mushrooms, vegetable plants, sausages, strawberries, farm fresh eggs, a Chinese fusion food truck, roasted & boiled nuts and MORE. We sampled a few food items here including the roasted nuts, sausage and cookies. We did not see anything that we had to have that day, but it was nice to browse the vendors tables. This is a fairly small farmers market, but still a decent option for buying some fresh local produce.

I would not make a special trip to visit this market, but if you are in town it is worth a peek.

You will find farmers' markets with better prices and bigger selections in a 20-mile radius, but I enjoy the homey atmosphere and the musical performances. Plus I like to patronize Newark Natural Foods, which organizes the market: they have done so much for our community. Another plus: you can drop off your unwanted goods at Goodwill, which is in the same shopping center and is open during market hours.

You can find a lot of organc vegetables here that are right off the farm. There are also alot of crafts from locals. Of course is available upon season. Go to the stand with the green and yellow green beans. So delicious I eat them almost every day they are in season. We don't visit the food trucks there but they seem to be busy so I think that says something about their quality. A plus is the parking ant they are in a shopping center so the natural foods store is there along with the goodwill (always interesting to see what people decided they no longer wanted). Finally, they have chalk for the youngster to draw on the black top with and a variety of musicians. Overall an entertaining venue.

I was pleasantly surprised at the amount of vendors and varieties of products. The biggest problem I had was making choices and not buying too much!

The Farmers Market has been the number one place to get great seasonal fruits and vegetables New Castle County for the past 10 or more years. My wife and I go there almost each week as many of the farmer/vendors provide organic produce. You can routinely find 10-15 varieties of heirloom tomatoes each week along with fresh berries, corn, mushrooms and much, much more. They also have craft and farm produced cheese, meats, sausage, breads, pastries and even soap. Other vendors offer their wares making it a great place to stroll and shop. They are now located in the large shopping center on the heart of Main Street.
