Please note that this review is being written from someone who grew up in the islands and Florida. The beach is OK. It's quiet and clean, which made for a nice enough experience. The water is pretty calm, not too many waves. Sand is decent enough. Not sure I will return by choice, though.

Very wide beach with close-in sandbars so it's great for children or people who mostly bob in the water. Have to go a long way out and will probably get whistled by the lifeguards if you want to be in water over your head. Clean, no ball playing on the beach. There is a snack bar but I didn't check... Lewes Beach is a quiet relaxed beach for families. Plenty of space for families to spread out to enjoy all the sand, surf, and sun that they can take in. Since it is located in the bay, the incoming waves are not as intense for young kids wadding into the water. Everyone that we met was courteous and friendly.

I go to The bay beach with just my chair, water and a few good magazines .. For a couple of hours when I don't feel like the ocean beach very quit ... And you also can see the Ferry coming and going so peaceful

The best place in the state to view sunsets over the bay! Reminds me of being in Key West and watching the sun set over the horizon in extraordinary color and in a dramatic array of form and texture. Bring your chair and be amazed at how beautiful and serene this beach is at sunset.

This is a great beach on the bay where the kids can swim and paddle around. Easy access and parking. Love coming here! Not overly crowded and very family friendly.

I'm used to the OBX so coming here was a shock. Either way, it's a great spot for everyone including children to wade in and out.

Bay side beach..water is calm and you don't have the crowds of Rehoboth. Metered parking until 6pm in season. Usually clean bathroom/shower area. Walking distance to Dairy Queen and a premium ice cream store..great place to watch sunset.

I love this beach in early mornings and late afternoons. Literally have as much room as you will ever need. Shallow waters with very little waves. Great for families. Can use Parkmobile app on phone to pay parking, $1.50 per hour.

This beach is on Delaware Bay, rather than on the Atlantic, so it doesn't have the waves that you associate with an ocean beach. That's good or bad depending on your point of view. The beach is long and fairly wide, so it can accommodate a lot of people. The sand is a little coarse, but not bad. The drop-off... More
