We went through some rigmarole in order to tour the Delaware Governor's Mansion while visiting Dover Delaware. Went there the second day after we arrived Dover and met by a rude policeman at the gate. He asked "what are you doing here"? I responded " to tour the mansion". He said "wait here"; then he went inside the mansion. A... More

We visited on one day before Christmas. The holiday decorations and tour of the first floor were well done. We would recommend it to everyone!

We have been here twice when it was open for tours - summer & Christmas week. House & grounds are very nice, as are the history guides. (Tours are free.) It's wonderful that Woodburn is open for tours, as it is used by the Governor & family on some occassions. The Hall House next door is also included in the... More

These two historical houses are next to each other, and each offer and unique experience for those who have not had an opportunity to visit the Governor's House (Woodburn) and/or the Guest House (Hall House). Architecturally, both are simply stunning. The interior rooms of each are tastefully furnished, in the period/style in which they were built. The holiday decor in... More

While it's understandable that the mansion, which (technically) houses the current governor (who really only uses it for dinner parties), can't have visitors walking up and down the stairs you will see very little. You will see three rooms in the house and a small collection of collectible plates. Also the house is open only on strange hours or on... More

Woodburn was open to the public for First Saturday in the First State, and I had not been there since the current governor has been in office, so I gave a visit to Woodburn (the Governor's Residence) and Hall House, the guest residence. Of course it looked nice, the guides were knowledgeable and very accommodating when I got a business... More

Top flight museum type part time residence of the Governor. Beautiful artifacts donated by some of Delaware's museums. Worth the visit. Grounds are beautiful

The Governor's Mansion is suprisingly small for a Governor's Mansion but has a lot of history because it was the first State in the Union.
